2026 Week 9 Indiana Hoosiers Rankings

Main Poll Voters

User Rank Rationale
BlueSCar 1
ChBass 1 Indiana has a top 20 offense, the 2nd best defense, and the loss to Ohio State hurts as much as 2 wins against Rutgers would help. They are in the lead place by a hair.

Comment: A hallmark of a great team is the ability to win even when you aren't playing your best, and the Hoosiers showed that Saturday. Still, they should probably Jason Beck a fruit basket as thanks for being a colossal idiot

Tornadohunter24 7 [6-1, 3-1 B1G] (-2) | SOR: #5 | Notable Results: W 29-23 vs #19 Northwestern [6-1], W 20-17 @ Nebraska [5-2], L 15-19 vs #2 Ohio State [6-1], W 13-6 (OT) @ Michigan [4-3] |

The good news for the Hoosiers is that the defense is just as potent as promised, despite earlier scares against teams like Northwestern and Nebraska. The bad news is that Josh Hoover is leading a horribly inefficient offense that cannot move the ball through the air with any sort of consistency (unless that consistency is consistently awful, like the 2nd half against Michigan this past weekend). Becker and Marsh are clearly talented receivers, and the trenches are stocked full of talent allowing a skilled runningback room plenty of gaps to run and stifling opposing offenses, but good god is their attack abysmal. This needs to be rectified before it proves fatal, like it did against the Buckeyes earlier this month. A close scare against the Wolverines drops them down behind the Irish (as well as 1-loss BYU) despite a higher SOR.

Doogitywoogity 8 UGLY win over a middling Michigan squad. I may be overranking them. But if I drop them I need to drop Ohio State who I’m worried I have too low, but I also don’t know how they’ll be with injuries. In short, huh?
ikindalikelemons 8
Jakesnake42 8 I'm not sure why I was so harsh on Indiana last week when I already had Northwestern ranked....don't have a good explanation of that, Nebraska is also a solid win. Last Week: #15

noahthearc 8
Noy_Telinu 8 Keeps getting away with close games
redrumsoxLoL 8 While Indiana did manage to win, their offense looked very weak against Michigan in a game that they should have more comfortably won. They move up due to other teams ahead of them losing.
redwave2505 8
Ruhrgebietheld 8
sgtshenanigans 8 Indiana needed overtime to score 13 points against Michigan. More proof that while Indiana's defense is among the elite their offense is a major weakness.

T-Thugs 9 Indiana is 6-1 with a nice win over Northwestern (6-1). Also beat Nebraska (5-2). I'm not a big believer in this team this year. They've squeaked by some pretty mediocre teams, including an overtime win over Michigan.
