lowes18 8 Texas Tech is so far ahead of the Big 12 on the lines of scrimmage that I find it hard to believe they won't be in the playoffs in 2026. While the team did lose a lot coming off a great draft, I have enough faith in their coaching staff to reload.

redrumsoxLoL 8 The Red Raiders last season were led by their elite defense which is strange for the history of this program. If their offense can match their defense they could make a strong run in the playoffs.

Gambling QB having parted ways, TTU returns with the most talent B12 roster, and most of their tough games at home. Favorites for the B12 champ.

Doogitywoogity 9 A very easy schedule for the Red Raiders if they didnt get too distracted by the Sorsby Saga. Houston, Arizona, and maybe TCU are their only challenges. That said, I have no idea who their qb will be, and after last season’s rash of injuries at the position I’d be worried about depth at QB for this squad.

SufferingfOrLife 9 Reasons I like them: #12 in returning production, still one of the top rosters in the Big 12, running back group is great, brought in some talented defensive line talent.

Reasons I dislike them: QB question marks; are they able to replace Bailey and Height's edge-rushing combo?

Lefunnymaymays4lief 10 No Sorsby really fucking stings. They were as good as they were last year in spite of having to play Morton. Hammond has a 4 star pedigree but looked pedestrian when starting for the injured Morton against ASU last year. The softest schedule out of any top contender will give Hammond plenty of opportunity to gel with an otherwise stacked roster, particularly on defense with an absolutely insane front 7

elnino550 11 Even with no Sorsby, I think it's likely they've upgraded at QB.
The real concern is how they defence has been completely obliterated by the NFL draft, but it's projecting to be nearly as strong.

TheUltimate721 11 Here's the thing: Brendan Sorsby was not going to affect this team's W/L total whatsoever. He's simply not a needle moover in the way they were hoping he would be. They also lost *a ton* of talent on defense, but thankfully they have a lot of oil money to make up for it.

ikindalikelemons 13 They paid for a lot of skill and it's been proven to work for them last season. But they went after Sorsby for a reason, and nobody can be sure if Will Hammond is ready.

Justanother_0 13 The Red Raiders had an insane season last year. The defense was generational, and in my opinion was the best in the nation, providing their slightly above average offense the ability to put up excellent scores thanks to advantageous field position. After the whole mess of an offseason that saw the Red Raiders go from the underdog Cinderella to the villain of the Big XII, the offense looks to have improved in all positions except QB on paper, and the defense seems to have reloaded on paper. I have Tech as my #2 Big XII team for two reasons: Will Hammond flips a coin before every game he plays in to determine if he is either going to win or lose Tech the game. Against Utah, he subbed in for an injured Morton and turned a neck and neck game in the fourth quarter into a runaway multi-score road win for the Red Raiders. Against Arizona State, he couldn't do much against one of the statistically worst secondaries in the entire Big XII. Aside from QB, I just find it hard to believe that Tech will be able field a comparable defense this year to last after having to send off as much of the defense as they had.

MainPeanut25 13 If they just let Will Hammond have the starting job from the beginning then none of this would’ve happened

Charlemagne42 14 Loses two games, which is collusion. You can't do that. So have fun with that. Misses the CCG on tiebreakers, and finishes with just two ranked wins against two unranked losses late in the season.

ceris13 9 I fear that Tech is my top 10 team that has the highest likelihood to tumble. Offseason drama and a bit of a question mark at QB may leave Tech on the outside of the playoff at the end of the year.

AoA_nB1 14 No Sorsby no problem? Will Hammond was slated to take over the starting job in 2026, but that was before he tore his ACL against Arizona State. Hammond is tracking to be ready for week 1, but TTU is poised to take a step back this year.
