d1sportsball Ballot for 2026 Preseason

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Aug. 24, 2026, 4:04 p.m.

Rank Team Reason
Ohio State Buckeyes Very safe bet, nearly beat IU last year
Indiana Hoosiers Won the natty and I won't doubt them again
Texas Longhorns All in year for Sark, if not now then when?
Oregon Ducks Similar to Texas, but that end to the season was rough
Georgia Bulldogs Very consistent, as always QB and WR are concerns
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Loss of top 2 RBs will hurt them
Miami Hurricanes A lot of new, can they replicate last year
BYU Cougars Best team outside the mostly consensus top 7, very physical and only lost Jay Hill
Ole Miss Rebels I don't think Kiffin was that big of a deal, Trinidad-Lacy will be an electric offense
Oklahoma Sooners Bring a lot back, possibly a better defense and rushing game. Can they break the 6-7/10-3 curse?
Texas A&M Aggies Very hesitant because of their schedule last year
Texas Tech Red Raiders Should have a better O and worse D, QB cant get much worse
Michigan Wolverines Whitt will fix a lot of the problems and culture after bringing in Utah guys
USC Trojans High talent, high disappointment. I think LR gets fired this year but right now its a top 15 squad
Louisville Cardinals Possibly the best RB in the nation, a good #2 RB and a QB whisperer coaching the guy who nearly beat out Sayin
LSU Tigers A lot of new and bad vibes around the program that might hurt a lot
Houston Cougars If Weigman goes down, a 5 star backup is pretty good for a school like UH
SMU Mustangs Not much to say here, pretty good the past 3 years and Kevin Jennings is back for another shot
Alabama Crimson Tide Starting Russell is a mistake IMO. I fear they may not realize that until its too late and I didn't like their portal
Penn State Nittany Lions Brought in everyone but Abu Sama from ISU, PSU really lucked out in the coaching search
Montana State Bobcats IMO shaping up to be one of the best FCS teams we've ever seen. They were dominant last year and return Lamson, Dowler and many more. 16-0 watch if you ask me
Arizona Wildcats Fifita is back somehow and there wasn't many other teams to put here
Utah Utes Lost a lot but bring back Devon Dampier, can he stay healthy is my only concern
Iowa Hawkeyes Iowa is consistent and I trust them. Good defense and QB doesn't matter too much
Boise State Broncos Consistently good, a safe bet bringing back Maddux Madsen. Can they survive the schedule though?
