bretticus33 | 4 | It was rocky, but Brian Kelly’s first season at LSU was a success. They won the SEC West and won 10 games but even bigger things will be expected in 2023. It starts with QB Jayden Daniels who was stellar in 2022 and is my pick to win the Heisman this season. Harold Perkins has potential to be the top defensive player in FBS but will have to avoid a sophomore slump. The pieces are there for LSU to make a playoff push. |

kamiller2020 | 4 | Jayden Daniels showed the promise he had as a freshman starter at Arizona State to full use last year and with a full year in Baton Rouge under his belt, expect big things from the senior QB this year. Malik Nabors is poised for a big year in 2024 along with stud TE Mason Taylor but the Tigers are going to need more out of the rest of their skill positions this year. Brian Thomas returns, but expect a lot of Aaron Anderson or Jalen Brown if they start the year strong. The offensive line returns in full which is huge and should carry a pretty mediocre group of RBs. Harold Perkins was dynamite all season long, Mekhi Wingo was an all-American last year, and Mason Smith is back from injury giving LSU major star power up front. The LBs should be solid, but it's the secondary where questions arise. The reports from the camp have been great about guys like Duce Chester and Zy Alexander but everything is speculation until week 1. LSU is missing depth that would make it an easy title front-runner, but if some young guys step up next year they have more top-end talent than anybody CFB and could make a strong run at Houston this year. However, the FSU game looms large in week 1 and is a must-win if they want a real shot at the CFP. |

crownebeach | 8 | I am a Jayden Daniels truther, and I think Brian Kelly is an underappreciated head coach. I am deeply concerned about the defense, which is not great and very thin. I don't think LSU has national championship upside, but they could be this year's Tennessee, throwing a few big upsets but folding in some games that they should win. |

NyquillusDillwad20 | 10 | LSU is similar to FSU in that they seem to be getting a bit more hype than I think they deserve based on last year's performance. They got blown out by Tennessee and UGA, and lost to an awful A&M team. The Bama win is likely the culprit for the mass amount of hype. They have the potential to be a great team, but I also think they're just as likely to disappoint and go 8-4. Like FSU, I think their season hinges on the Week 1 matchup. |

ScaratheBear | 4 | The scariest part about LSU is how far ahead of schedule they are. Last years LSU team was supposed to be a foundational team. Set the stage for the Brian Kelly era. All he did was win 10 games, make the SECCG, and keep LSU in contention for the playoff until a late season loss to Texas A&M. The season starts tough with Florida State, and of course the SEC West slate is relentless, but LSU returns plenty to keep up. |
Spacesurfer6 | 4 | Made a run at the end of the year and should have some good momentum coming into this season |

throwaway_6786 | 11 | LSU is out for revenge on FSU after that blocked XP last year, but the Tigers did beat Bama and Ole Miss to win the SEC West and go to the SEC Championship game. Brian Kelly returns, as well as Jaden Daniels, Harold Perkins, and several other talented players. This might seem a little low for LSU, but they were robbed of any meaningful bowl game impact when Purdue basically threw their 2nd-string team in for the Outback Bowl (or whatever it's called these days) and the TA&M loss was pretty stark considering how bad the Aggies were last year. Still, if LSU gets their revenge on FSU and keeps winning, they'll rise up on my ballot quickly. |
FourteenClocks | 12 | Brian Kelly pointedly showed off the 'WIN!' banner after upsetting my Rebels last year; he reminded us that's exactly what he does. LSU had its share of goofy moments last year, but by and large he proved that his move to Baton Rouge was the right call. This is a scary team that can get scarier--between smiling Jayden Daniels and defensive standout Harold Perkins, can Kelly get the rest of the team to win consistently, at a school that seems to include a national championship in each new hire contract? |
