| DampFrijoles | 18 | I have a general rule of thumb that I will not rank a team ahead of teams that have two fewer losses (e.g. a 3-loss team ahead of a 1-loss team). However, I made an exception for LSU this week. They are ranked ahead of 0-loss Miami (FL), North Carolina, Washington State, Missouri, and Kentucky. My rationale: a) LSU's loss this week was to a highly-ranked Mississippi (#12 in my poll), was a close game, and it was an away game in a tough environment; and b) their Week 0 loss to FSU was closer than the score indicates, it was a de facto away game in a tough environment, and FSU is highly ranked (#5 in my poll). |

Daniels has played well and it’s hard to blame him for a loss when LSU scores 49. The issues are all on the defensive side of the ball. |

| _TGT7 | 18 | A brutal loss to Ole Miss sends LSU flying down my rankings, only reason I still have them ranked is because Ole Miss and Florida State are good, ranked teams, and because Arkansas and Mississippi State are decent teams in my eyes. While Brian Kelly isn’t going to get fired anytime soon, I expect to see a situation similar to Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M, LSU hired Brian Kelly to win championships, and LSU’s playoff aspirations are over this season. |
