crimsonlaw 2 They beat Texas and thus have the best win on their resume out of all the teams. I say they deserve the 2nd spot for their performance.

_Brazenhead_ 3 An impressive offensive performance, albeit against a Big 12 defense. Beating a top-ten team on the road with a performance like that suggest the SEC might go to someone other than Alabama or Georgia this season.

JustAManAndHisLaptop 3 This was an impressive game to see! LSU's new offense ripped through the Texas secondary (DBU) for 471 yards in the air. Run defense is great but could see the pass defense become a liability when they play more pass oriented teams

steelcitygator 3 UP 9LSU has an offense and thats scarry.  Texas moved the ball well on them and that could be cause for concern but in the end they won and thats what matters most.

TheFlyingBoat 3 For the first time since I don't know when, LSU's claims about having a new offense that would actually use the talent they have well has actually been borne out by reality. Burrow completed 80% of his passes with a great aDOT. Marshall, Chase, and Jefferson proved to be elite college WRs not just elite athletes (which they also are) that would get drafted on potential and talent instead of production. The running backs were no Fournette and the running attack was largely stuffed until the complete meltdown of the pass D of Texas, but none of that phased the LSU offense. Their defense is also elite despite what the box score says. Both Fournette

BigBoutros 4 Joe Burrow's filthy cannon could take him all the way to New York and LSU all the way to the playoff.
Blazeth 4 honestly, not really sure what to make of their victory... their offense might be very good but they might have a mediocre defense? could actually be a solid combo for getting through the SEC... we'll see
chrisb19 4 Great win over a very good Texas team - LSU showed a dynamic offense and a ton of resilience. They fought hard against Ehlinger and Todd Orlando's elite defense and came out on top. Whether they can get through their schedule in the SEC West plus Florida unscathed remains to be seen, but they have the second-best early season resume.

iliketoupvotepuns 4 I'll admit it, I was not a Burrow believer to start the year. Although I thought he was above average, I had no faith in him to lead LSU to a completely different level on offense. I was wrong. That said, I think people are going a little too far considering LSU racked up yards on a Texas team that had to replace 8 starters from last year's defense and I had pegged as slightly overrated by the community at large anyway. Even so, LSU has proven to even the most cynical doubters that they are a top 5 team and a force to be reckoned with in the SEC. I have them jumping several other very good/great teams to the number 4 spot this week.

peachios 4 That offense was looking great, maybe Texas' is good as well, but the defense might need to be better verse some other teams. DBU seemed not true in this game.
PHubbs 4 Great win by the Tigers, though the defense needs to play better when the temperature goes under 100. I'm not down on Georgia, I just don't believe in putting 3 teams from the same conference in the playoff top 4 when that has no way of happening, and right now, LSU has proven themselves adaptable and deserving of a top 4 rank. Georgia should be back in the top 4 in due time when Alabama breaks LSU's hearts.

stripes361 4 LSU may have the top offense in the country so far, which makes them a danger to beat any team they face. The Tigers are certainly a leading contender to win the SEC, and their game with Alabama may very well decide a Playoff spot.
