JustAManAndHisLaptop Ballot for 2019 Week 3

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 8, 2019, 11:47 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Combination of my interactions watching games and advanced metrics found elsewhere online. Always open for discussion or if you see a glaring error please call me out! Always looking to improve my process. Lot of promise in teams that could be ranked between 22-32. NOTE: UW did fall out of my rankings not a mistake I have them at 26

Rank Team Reason
Clemson Tigers While not the most impressive or fun game to watch Clemson took care of business and moved back up to 1
Alabama Crimson Tide
LSU Tigers This was an impressive game to see! LSU's new offense ripped through the Texas secondary (DBU) for 471 yards in the air. Run defense is great but could see the pass defense become a liability when they play more pass oriented teams
Georgia Bulldogs
Ohio State Buckeyes
Oklahoma Sooners
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Michigan Wolverines Not going to punish Michigan and overreact knowing who Army is (all too well). They found a way to win.
Wisconsin Badgers Big believer in Wisconsin, its early but advanced stats and eye test are very positive here
Utah Utes
Auburn Tigers
Florida Gators With Miami's recent loss and Florida's offense still not figuring it out, I am not as high on them as others. Will need to see something more to justify a top 10 ranking moving forward
Texas Longhorns Played an excellent game and while not a win should be happy with how the team played. Is this truly a game between titans of CFB or is this like the ND game years back is still to be seen but Texas is definitely back from the depths of the Charlie Strong era.
Penn State Nittany Lions struggled early but got things together for the W, coupled with teams in front losing helps push them forward in the polls
Oregon Ducks
UCF Knights
Michigan State Spartans this defense is going to give up less than 100 points for the year aren't they?
Iowa Hawkeyes
Texas A&M Aggies This is my most difficult team to assess. Their defense held up pretty well against Clemson except for some freshman mistakes (Leon O'Neal Jr what are you doing??) The offense though.....has room for improvement to be nice. Mond tanked any Heisman talk and I worry the Aggies already insane schedule gets worse with Auburn and others beginning to emerge. I partially forsee TAMU bouncing around 11-25 the whole season
Washington State Cougars
Virginia Cavaliers I am a buyer now, will they compete against Clemson for the ACC, maybe who knows but as long as the Cavs can be consistent I would have no issues putting them higher as they go through the season
Boise State Broncos Not sure if the Marshall game was a fall off after the high of beating FSU but not the best effort, not going to kill a team for a win against a good opponent
Maryland Terrapins
Oklahoma State Cowboys Sanders looks like the real deal. Very excited to see OkState @ Texas in the next couple weeks.
North Carolina Tar Heels I tossed and turned for the 25th spot, not sure how many people really care about this position. BUT Im giving the nod to a continuing to improve UNC team that could be something....also.....the Mack is back
