iliketoupvotepuns 8 Michigan looked really bad against Army, but I think Army is a solid G5 team and that fewer possessions increases game variance, potentially making up for talent deficiencies. For that reason, and the fact that I am not overly sold on any of the other teams I was considering jumping Michigan, I haven't dropped them too far and still consider them a top 10 team. FOR NOW.

TheJeemTeam 8 1/2 in Tier C: Despite the close 2OT win over Army, they are a well-regarded team. Notre Dame has only played one game and they weren't exactly impressive in it, so going with Michigan ahead of them.

Blazeth 10 I think moving Michigan much lower would be a bit of an overreaction, Army is most likely very good. Their offense is still a struggle like previous years but that hasn't kept them out of the Top 10 in the end generally.

Jakesnake42 10 Michigan drops after going to 2OT with Army who I don't buy as a legit Top 25 right now like some people do.

_Brazenhead_ 12 Possibly an aberration against the frustrating team that is Army but sloppy turnovers on offense and lack of domination up front on defense at home causing a narrow escape has Michigan drop out of my top ten. I anticipate their position relative to Penn State, Notre Dame, and Wisconsin to shake out as the season progresses.

PHubbs 15 Maybe I'm dropping them way too much for a win, but people need to stop comparing this game to Oklahoma's OT Army win last year. Army clearly couldn't stop OK, but they could control the clock and get a constant 4 against Oklahoma's worst P5 defense. Michigan is supposed to have a defense, yet they kept failing to stop Army while making bad mistakes on offense. Michigan looks to be a step back this year.

crownebeach 17 Biggest drop, ten spots. It was a weird game with lots of fumbles, but I can't ignore 4.47 yards/play against an Army defense that allowed 5.5 last year. The OL got outworked and Shea Patterson looks checked out right now. I want to stick with my preseason optimism but I just don't see it rn.

hokies220 17 It really really wasn't pretty, and I'm not convinced that Army isn't the better team. But it doesn't matter what I'm convinced of because the points say Michigan is right here so here they are.
hypercube42342 17 Michigan did not impress me against MTSU, and then *really* unimpressed me against Army. One game is a fluke, two games is a trend until proven otherwise. -10

stripes361 18 FPI has Michigan a garish 86th in offensive efficiency so far. SP+ is more bullish on them at 54th, but the roster balance is still poor for a team which has consistently underperformed its expected results based on metrics under Jim Harbaugh. At the beginning of 2018 I was enthusiastic about Shea Patterson, but I'm just not seeing the necessary development from him.

steelcitygator 20 DOWN 2Michigan struggled mightily against Army, now the service academies are tough to play against and Oklahoma made the CFP after beating Army in overtime last year but its still not a good look (and Army played better in that game last year)

crimsonlaw 21 Okay Michigan, here's the deal. You haven't looked good at all this year. You beat Army because of a miracle, not because you outplayed them. I'll keep you ranked, but not in a position you like. Turn the ship around and start playing like we all anticipated you would, and you can climb back up the ladder.
