If this were a "Resume" ranking, then the Buckeyes would have fallen much further. However, I expect Urban Meyer to right the ship. And the loss did come, after all, to my preseason #3 in a game which was pretty close until Ohio State lost their composure. For now, the Buckeyes remain in my top 10 but need to fix their offense to stay here. Might I suggest running more, perhaps even with actual running backs? Mike Weber and J.K. Dobbins average 6.3 yards per carry on 16 rushes, and both running backs averaged more yards per carry than OSU averaged yards per pass attempt. Yeesh. Play to your strengths, people! |

-4: Loss vs OU.  Offense struggled a lot and had a hard time getting into rhythm while the defense got torched through the air. |

The young secondary was exposed against a talented QB. I wasn't too surprised to see Oklahoma win last night, but I was surprised to see JT Barrett struggle as much as he has this season. It might be a time for a QB change in Columbus.  |

All-star recruits doesn't always equal all-star results. A lot of B1G teams will eat the Buckeye  secondary for breakfast and have JT Barret's subpar QB play for dessert |

They didn't look particularly competitive against Oklahoma, but they still have more talent than 95% of their schedule. |

Ohio State's front 7 is still legit, I believe that. They have enough 5 star recruits on that squad, they'll turn it around after this week and become a great team again. Meyer coached teams always do. |

-7 spots (previously 3). 1-1 Ohio State got embarrassed on their own home field. Looming offensive issues remain an issue in the Toilet Bowl and they continue to flush points down the drain. Their secondary needs a second wipe as well. They still remain in the Top 10, but barely.  |

Bad loss at home in prime time. offense struggled with JT Barrett, still not dropping them too far with the loss coming against the new #2 team |

Fell very hard to OU, but given the quality of their loss, they only drop 2 spots. They are still going to be a very quality team this year, but they seemed to be very out-of-focus in the OU game and truly did not look like the OSU of two years ago. |

It's always weird figuring out where teams should drop to this early in the season when they lose to another *probably very good team. I don't know how they are above FSU in the AP poll - OSU lost at home to a lower ranked team, and while they beat Indiana week 1, did not look great doing it. |

Barrett is not the answer at QB. Secondary got exposed, but how much of that was the secondary, and how much was Mayfield being a good QB? |

Ohio state with their best florida gator impression. Dominating defense that eventually gets worn down from supporting their lackluster offense all game. Still a great team, but if they can't develop some semblance of a passing attack, then they won't be able to compete with the big dogs this year. But hey, they've got Urban Meyer, so they could certainly turn it around. Also, I just want to state for the record that I don't think Ohio State's failures are on JT Barret. The guy's not getting any support.  |

Ohio State manages to grab a handhold rather than hurtle into the abyss of the unranked because I happen to think that Indiana is going to perform well above expectations this year. Again, I don't want to use preseason/personal expectations quite this much, but on paper the Hoosier defense should be really good, and they seem to have a really strong passing game. They've got a lot to prove, but I'm willing to say this is a good win for Ohio State at the moment. |
