corundum9 Ballot for 2017 Week 3

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 11, 2017, 7:17 p.m.

Overall Rationale: My poll is resume-based but also features poll inertia which is why FSU is still ranked despite not having won a game yet.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide
Oklahoma Sooners Leaps Clemson with an impressive road victory over OSU.
Clemson Tigers Solidly in my top 5. I value Oklahoma's win over OSU more due to the game being on the road and I think Auburn was slightly over-hyped to begin with.
USC Trojans Leaps Michigan with win over Stanford.
Michigan Wolverines Florida win more impressive than any of PSU or Washington wins. VT's win over WV is better in my opinion but poll inertia is keeping Washington and PSU ahead of them until more games are played.
Penn State Nittany Lions
Washington Huskies
Virginia Tech Hokies WV win is stronger than Georgia's win over ND.
Georgia Bulldogs
Wisconsin Badgers Softest schedule in the top 25. It will be hard for me to move them up unless teams ahead lose games.
LSU Tigers Haven't played anyone. Defense looks impressive and returns Key this week.
Oklahoma State Cowboys See above but replace defense with offense.
Florida State Seminoles Poll inertia keeping FSU in the top 15. Their defense and special teams remain elite.
Ohio State Buckeyes Above Auburn because they can actually move the ball.
Auburn Tigers Not really sure what to make of Auburn. The defense was stout even after being on the field for so long. Offense is not good, yet.
Kansas State Wildcats Moving up by default. Haven't played anyone but their upcoming game v Vanderbilt could be more interesting than people thought going into the season.
Oregon Ducks
Louisville Cardinals Not sure on how good Purdue or UNC are this year. Ask again later.
Washington State Cougars
Stanford Cardinal I'm actually high on Stanford but a win over Rice and a loss to USC is not exactly a strong resume. Could b back into the top 15 with wins over SDSU and UCLA.
South Carolina Gamecocks NC St and Mizzou seem like decent wins but poll inertia is keeping SC below Stanford, WSU, and Louisville.
Iowa Hawkeyes While Wyoming and ISU individually aren't strong teams, together they compromise a decent two game resume comparatively speaking.
Maryland Terrapins
TCU Horned Frogs Defense and run game are strong. Need to figure out their passing attack. Win over Arkansas is enough to get them in the top 25.
Miami Hurricanes Poll inertia keeping them in. Just one game played against Bethune-Cookman gets them leaped by 21-24.
