User Rank Reason
CoopertheFluffy 1 They're the only team who really looked good playing a team who is supposed to be a decent opponent.

YellowSkarmory 1 Win by 49 and not allowing much get them up here. Also RIP Lane Train.
A-Stu-Ute 2 What a crazy drubbing. They were almost my number 1, minus Alabama having a QB.

GilBrandt 3 So I'll be one of the first people to get upset at others when they dismiss a G5 team like the game will be a breeze. I was trying to warn fans to not get too big headed about crushing the upcoming game. FSU and OU thought they would crush Houston, Auburn and Baylor thought they would crush UCF. BUT I will also be the first to eat crow. I was wrong. I really thought Lane Kiffin and FAU would give OU a bigger challenge. I thought OU might struggle without Baker and that the defense from last season would be exposed.

bgr308 4 Oklahoma, in what many thought was a chance at an upset by Lane Kiffin's FAU Owls, made it clear early that it was not so. The Sooners, led by new starting QB Kyler Murray scored early and often, including a blocked punt returned for a TD (probably helps having a Beamer on the staff). The Big 12 should be tough this year, also including two intriguing OOC games against UCLA and Army. Oklahoma should still be the favorite to win the conference.

chrisb19 4 Same as the others - didn't make any catastrophic errors in week 1 and should remain the favorite in the Big XII.

joebob431 4 Either FAU really regressed, or Oklahoma is going to be VERY good this year

nickknx865 4 The FAU game, in hindsight, had probably a little too much expectation for the Owls. Yet, even grading on that scale, I don't know how to rate Oklahoma's performance in that game as anything but impressive. A total pummeling from start to finish.

woakley 4 Absolutely blew the doors off of FAU. Impressive win to me and certainly  looked like their Offense didnt take a step back despite losing Baker. They jump one spot here, but im going to hold off making judgements until we see them against better competition
xelphin 4 Dunked on FAU all game, putting up one of the highest scores of week 1 in the process. I won't lie, I really thought Kyler Murray wasn't going to live up, but if he can show up all year like he did against FAU, he will do very well.

Charlemagne42 5 Wow. A defense so bad it's a meme held the C-USA's champion offense to just 14 points in garbage time. That game was only close at kickoff. If the Sooners stay the course, it'll be playoffs again for them.

Miami_da_U 6 Only moved up cause Miami lost. They played well.I was hoping the UCLA game was going to be a good one, but they lost to freakin Cincinnati last weak. Gunna have an easy run till october, then WVU to end the season. Their play and others will determine whether they stay at 6 or move up starting week 4. Tier 2 team.

PHubbs 6 The first team to move in my ballot. What made them move? The team above them lost. That is it. Very few week 1 games showed us anything in the top 10 since replacement level players came on the field early and often. I did expect FAU to put up more of a fight against OU, but we need more time to interpret if that's because FAU just didn't have the players to compete or Kyler Murray was just that good. I'm afraid for the rest of the Big XII that the answer might be the second option.

standrew5998 6 Ah, the meme game that wasn't. I wasn't really expecting a blowout of this proportion if I'm being honest, I figured Lane Kiffin would have more up his sleeve, but I guess not. I don't want the drop from 5 to 6 to be taken as a slight against Oklahoma's performance. I simply feel the win over quality competition deserves the reward of jumping a G5 blowout.

Blooblod 7 Little movement. The defense looked like it was potentially improved a little bit. I was expecting Lincoln Riley to keep this offense humming, good to see that was the case on Saturday.

captain_sasquatch 7 Kyler Murray looked good--though it was against an over-hyped FAU. I don't think we learned much but I still think it's going to be tough for them to lose a generational talent in Mayfield.

moistats_ 7 Oklahoma thrashed the fuck out of FAU. I still think it's a complete toss-up between them and West Virginia.
monkeymatt1836 7 Lincoln Riley's Sooner squad destroyed the FAU Fighting Kiffins 68-14, nearly handing them their worst loss in school history. Oklahoma's offense was so electric they were able to rest the starters 8 minutes into the second quarter. Baseball start Kyler Murray sure has some big shoes to fill following Baker Mayfield, but he's off to a great start.
noahthearc 7 +2 spots. Oklahoma obliterated FAU in a game where no one seemed sure if it should have been a blowout or a close game. No one except Lane Kiffin.

Hey_Its_Roomie 8 Sooners outright crushed FAU and derailed the Lane Train for now. It's another game of raised expectations, but Riley is off to a fine start his second season.
laminak 8
stripes361 8 Oklahoma would have jumped higher in my ballot this week if I were as high on FAU as most people seemed to be entering Week 1. However, I've held since last season that the Owls are incredibly overrated, and don't put much stock into this performance. Still, the Sooners at least proved that they came out of training camp mentally focused and ready to play.
52hoova 9 Kyler Murray is exactly what we (Aggie here) thought he would be when we recruited him.

hokies220 11 I really try to not let the previous year have any effect on my rankings, so sure FAU was 11-3 last year and returns their beast of a RB and several other key players. But 56-0 before even allowing the other team a pulse is worthy of respect. Lincoln Riley just runs good offenses and they didn't miss Mayfield at all.
relax_on_the_mat 11 Made a decent G5 team look bad at home.
W_Is_For_Will 11 Destroyed the Joey Saltwater's and showed that we still don't know if their team is good or not.
311polo 12 Many had FAU hovering right around #25 on the country. Oklahoma dominated.  I don't think FAU is all that good, otherwise OU would be a few spots hire.  Expect OU in the playoff this year.
tallg8tor 12
T-Thugs 15 Now we move into the land of good teams that pounded on cupcakes. Oklahoma dominated FAU.
