USC looks great so far. Hope they have their funeral tickets for when they play a mediocre PAC12 team after dark and get destroyed. |

USC's offense is going to be unstoppable -- Stanford's defense is not great, but they have potential NFL talent in the secondary and it became clear that it simply did not matter who you put on USC's receivers, they will have one favorable matchup on every snap. The defense, however, is not imposing. Stanford had two turnovers inside the USC 5-yard line and only lost by 13 points; this could have become a tossup game very easily. Anyone who said Lincoln's USC was going to look just like his Oklahoma teams was spot-on. |

Exciting offense that builds up a big lead? Shaky defense? Teams clawing back into it due to conservative play calling while nursing said big lead? The Lincoln Riley era is truly underway in Los Angeles. (Week 2: USC 41, Stanford 28; Record: 2-0) |

I'm cautiously buying into the USC hype. The team looks much much improved thanks to Riley and the slew of transfers. Offense is electric and the defense looks good enough to win 10+ games, but the defense will be tested against Fresno State's offense. |

The last of the 4-8 group, Stanford was the least impressive, but still a conference road win. That Lincoln Riley offense is nice. |

Before the season began, I wasn't exactly bullish on the Riley-Trojans. I remembered Riley's teams in Oklahoma getting worse as the years went by, looking sloppier, less defensively inclined, and outright bad against opponents who ranked several hundred points off in talent composites. However, through two games at USC, the 2022 Trojans look far from that. They dismantled Stanford while star QB Caleb Williams threw 4 TDs on 327 yards with no picks. RB Travis Dye was the star of the day, breaking off 105 yards on 7.5 YPC. Defensively, USC continues their turnover streak, forcing 4 turnovers from the Stanford offense, which brings the turnover total up to 8 in just two games. Before two garbage time TDs from Stanford in the fourth quarter, USC held an extremely respectable 41-14 lead. Through two games now, USC has gained 1,043 yards of offense (Iowa is salivating). USC looks very well integrated within Riley's offensive system, and their defense might be one that would best even his best Sooners teams'. It's too early to talk about playoffs or title contention, or anything of that like, but yesterday showed that USC is potent, and is looking to make a run at the PAC-12 title. |

Offense looks phenomenal, mildly worried about defense. I might have USC too low. If they continue winning they will probably rise faster than other teams who continue winning. |

I want to see the defense against better competition before I move them up too much more, but the offense has looked very good overall (despite being shutout in the 2nd half by Stanford). |
