texas2089	17	For the second straight year UNC and App State played a thriller as the Tar Heels came out on top 40-34 in 2OT. It wasn't quite the 120+ point offensive explosion we saw last year but both offenses were chugging. Omarion Hampton ran for a career high 234 yards with 3 TDs to lead the charge for North Carolina. Following the game Coach Mack Brown said how great it was for the state of North Carolina for App State to be playing these teams, while also offering for them to play NC State or ECU next. Safe to say the Tar Heels never want to see the Mountaineers ever again. Minnesota comes to Chapel Hill next week before the Heels open ACC play at Heinz Field (Yes I still call it that). Also, FREE TEZ WALKER.

Tornadohunter24	16	If there is one constant that P5 teams need to learn in the modern era of college football, it’s that Appalachian State is the single worst team to crop up on your schedule. As a G5 school, they don’t get the respect they deserve when you see them on paper, they’re able to upset even the mightiest of blue bloods on their best day, and every game a P5 has with them is fraught with heart attacks. UNC found that out for the second year in a row, when they squeaked by the Mountaineers in 2OT. Unfortunately for Tar Heel supporters, UNC’s season doesn’t really get much easier from this point on, despite the victories; Minnesota makes the trek down south for Week 3, and ACC play starts Week 4, with a difficult slate (though most of their tougher games are at home). Drake Maye needs to continue last season’s form if UNC wishes to repeat last year’s ACC Championship Game appearance.

Still, Drake Maye looked fantastic, the coaching was solid down the stretch, and UNC did just enough to escape with a win. The South Carolina win is still fairly impressive, so they stick at #17.
