T-Thugs 18 Dominant in win over American conference opponent Temple. A win over Georgia next week can jump them up the rankings.
vanburen1845 18 D could have trouble with Georgia

beerslingerjay 21 It looks like Notre Dame is going for more of a ground attack this year, and judging by the beatdown they put on Temple, it may just be crazy enough to work. Also, Temple's had a pretty solid defense for the past few years. Is the Irish offense simply that good, or has Temple taken a step back?

GilBrandt 22 Crushing win over Temple. Though this doesn't appear to be Matt Rhule's Temple squad anymore, so time will tell if this was a impressive win or not. Still impressive to hang 49 on a G5 team.

Aeschylus_ 23 After Texas' failure this ballot needed a historic juggernaut to inhabit its bowels. The Golden Dome will serve nicely.

hokies220 23 Perhaps Temple really slides back without Rhule and ND is just overrated as they often are. I considered putting Vanderbilt here as well.

WhiteBaseCoat 23 Notre Dame sneaked on here more or less because I restricted myself to teams with at least one win. I don't particularly like the look of any of the G5 (or P6) teams right now, not enough to trust them, and I probably gave a little too much credit to my boy Mike Bobo and his Rams in the preseason, so I looked around for another option, and Notre Dame became sort of the "eh, they'll do" of this ranking.

MarlinsGuy 24 Notre Dame has too much talent on their roster, they will bounce back.

stripes361 24 Notre Dame dominated the defending AAC champions, making for one of the most underrated wins of opening weekend. However, even a victory next week against Georgia won't necessarily prove they're "back". They get a home game against a one-dimensional offense that will really struggle to throw the ball with Jacob Eason injured. Take any potential win against Georgia with a grain of salt. With that being said, the Top 25 bubble is pretty weak right now and the Irish have as much a claim to this spot as anyone.
TheFlyingBoat 24 Great win over Temple confirming my correct placement of them in my preseason poll which I saved and failed to submit :(

Arsenal7X 25 Was gonna rank the winner of GT/Tennessee here but I watched that game and LOL NOPE. Notre Dame it is.

Cobainism 25 By many advanced statistical metrics, the Irish were considered to be very unlucky last season, so they probably won't go 4-8 again. QB Brandon Wimbush had a nice season opener, throwing 2 TDs. However, some of his passes (3 by my count) could have easily been picked off by Temple's defense. Notre Dame should be bowl-eligible this year, but is that enough to save HC Brian Kelly's job? Maybe their fans will blame "academics" again, even though they still have 4-star recruits all over the field.
