One of the best looking teams in the country beat what should be a top 25 team like a drum to get them the first overall spot |

Even after losing a million players from last season's team, Georgia still dominated Oregon and didn't look like they were missing anyone. Could be best team, but they have the best win after Week 1. |

I was concerned about what the defending champs lost before the season started. I am no longer concerned. About anything. I was especially impressed by Stetson Bennett's pocket presence; the Oregon pass rush was about the only thing the Ducks did passably well in that game, and ol' Stetson just stood in and kept letting it rip. |

It was very close between 1 and 2 for me, but from the data we have so far this year, UGA has the more impressive record than Alabama. |

MERCY. Them dawgs degloved Oregon. Is Oregon not that great? Perhaps. Is this team just as stacked as last year despite the roster turnover? Sure looks like it. |

Beating #13 Oregon the way Georgia did showed me that Georgia is the best team in the country. While the defense is not as good as last year's, this year's is still going to be very, very good. The offense, meanwhile is one of the best Georgia offenses I have ever seen. Stetson Bennett looks like a legit Heisman contender after going 25-31 for 368 yards and 2 TDs. Georgia started this game a perfect 7 for 7 on scoring drives, only not scoring on their last 2 drives, one of which was just kneel downs to end the game. Georgia is going to be extremely good this year and they have earned my #1 vote. |

Week 1: Georgia 49, Oregon 3
Record: 1-0
Hard not to put Georgia in the top spot for the time being after they absolutely obliterated Oregon. The Bulldogs lost a lot from last year and might get leapfrogged, but talk about an opening statement from the defending champs. |

Georgia is Georgia, I don't know what more you want me to say. They humiliated a very solid Oregon squad in Atlanta and did it in the most convincing way possible. The air attack was excellent, and the Georgia defense made the Duck's offense look comical. Georgia is still the most athletic team in college football, and it is very little that's going to get in the way of Georgia football this season. |

Georgia also did terrifyingly well, but they might have done *too* well. Maybe Oregon was overrated and didn't deserve to be there. Maybe they pulled a Bucs-Raiders Super Bowl 37 "Hey I know that playbook" maneuver. Regardless, for now they sit at 1b slightly behind Alabama and can easily have been 1a with that impressive dismantling of a P5 opponent . |
