dusklord1 Ballot for 2022 Week 2

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 6, 2022, 5:27 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Drops: Cincinnati drops out because they lost, but should still be a decent team that finishes ranked. Iowa drops out because they are incapable of moving the football. Even if they sneak their way back in after edging out a few wins, they will be on upset watch all season because they cannot score. Oregon's out for obvious reasons.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide
Georgia Bulldogs Sent what was supposed to be a pretty good Oregon team to the shadow realm
Ohio State Buckeyes Defense looked much improved, especially on 3rd down. Can forgive offensive hiccups since all the receivers that played had yet to get meaningful snaps in the past. UGA is higher because they looked more complete and had a more impressive performance.
Michigan Wolverines Beating 3-9 Colorado State (who lost to Vandy last year) by a lot is taking care of business, nothing more, nothing less. They rise because Clemson fell, not because I think any differently of them.
Clemson Tigers I could overreact more and send them as low as #8 (if they continue playing DJ every game). But I tempered my overreaction and assume that Klubnik will eventually start, at which point Clemson is a legitimate contender.
Oklahoma Sooners
Texas A&M Aggies An uninspiring performance on offense against SHSU, but two teams above them lost.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Despite losing, ND still looked like a clear top 10 team for most of the game
Baylor Bears They jumped this much because I couldn't really justify putting any other team here, maybe I was too bearish on them last week.
Arkansas Razorbacks Impressive win against Cincinnati
Michigan State Spartans
Wisconsin Badgers
Florida Gators Good win against a solid Utah team. Maybe they're worse, and this was attributable to it being game 1 in the Swamp, but Kentucky will provide a good barometer.
Kentucky Wildcats
BYU Cougars
Utah Utes Utah played well and had a very good chance at securing a win, so they don't drop much further than this.
NC State Wolfpack A win is a win, so they don't fall out of the top 25, but they looked extremely unimpressive and probably deserved to lose (granted, it's week 1 in a hostile environment)
Pittsburgh Panthers
Penn State Nittany Lions
Oklahoma State Cowboys Defense looked shaky in the second half as did the offense, I'm still not convinced on how good they will be with their low returning production.
Ole Miss Rebels
Houston Cougars Good win against a solid UTSA
USC Trojans I'm including USC and Miami because there aren't teams that I'm more convinced deserve a ranking based on current play + talent/past results.
Miami Hurricanes
Mississippi State Bulldogs
