Dominant on both sides of the ball. We'll see if this continues or if BYU ends up being really bad this season. |

Defense was terrifying and they'd be my first team out right now simply because I believe FSU is much better than BYU. |

LSU lost a lot, but they're very talented and they return their QB, who is - well, he's - look, he's certainly a quarterback, if nothing else. Probably. Plus, they blanked BYU, who despite their lackluster Week 0 showing ought to be a more meaningful opponent than some of the other cupcake-feasts going on throughout Week 1. I don't trust Ed Orgeron all that much, but I do trust both of his coordinators, and I liked what I saw out of Matt Canada's offense. I don't have a lot of concerns about LSU right now. |

I'm not sure how good BYU is going to be this year, but a shutout over what is normally a pretty good team is impressive. In a week 1 filled with blowouts of bad teams and struggles for many other top 25 teams, LSU earns a top spot. |

LSU shutout an Independent
FBS team who already had some experience having played a game last week.
Leaving BYU to negative rushing yards and only 100+ passing. |

They got a de-facto home game against BYU. They out performed BYU. This goes in the quality win category after 1 week, it might change, but for now, take your points. |

HC Ed Orgeron must be chanting Cajun carols as his Tigers didn't let BYU's offense cross midfield. Perhaps more importantly, LSU fans are giddy over a QB that, wait for it, makes accurate throws! Can the Bayou Bengals be a legitimate threat to the Bama Juggernaut this season? |

LSU showed a clean and strong defensive performance against visiting BYU. I don't really have much to say other than they played sound football. If LSU's new offense can move the ball like it was unable to do last year, I think the Tigers will have a successful year.  |

BYU didn't cross the 50 against them and they seem to have found a more efficient way to do the offense thing. That makes them scary. |

Dat wa sum goo foobaw, foobaw, foobaw! LSU looked dominant blanking BYU to open the season under permanent head coach Ed Orgeron. Hopefully that trend will continue, I'd love to see a tight race in the SEC West between Bama, Auburn, and LSU.  |

This just in: LSU's defense looks okay. LSU has to be flying pretty high after making BYU look like Furman. Etling was unspectacular, but efficient, which is already a step in the right direction. This could help Derrius Guice see more holes against stiffer competition. |

BYU is bad, LSU beat them badly.  I really didn't learn anything from this game aside from the play calling looked at a glance much improved over the last few years. |

The offense doesn't look much different this year under Canada and the ceiling is limited by a game-manager QB. |

LSU finally knows what it's like to keep the other team from crossing midfield. The offense seems to be leagues better than this time last year and Etling + Guice will continue to perform well. As I said earlier, shutting out any FBS program is impressive but shutting out BYU is even more impressive. |

LSU made the BYU Cougars look like a weak opponent. QB Etling went 14-17 for 171 yards passing. If they get that kind of QB play the sky is the limit for the talented Tigers. |
