BabyBladder 3 The Sooners enter the playoffs at the #2 spot, only losing to Ohio State in the regular season. They beat up on a weak Big 12, and unload on rival Ok. St., twice. However, the Crimson Tide are too much in the playoff and they finish 12-2 on the season.

stripes361 3 Oklahoma flew under the radar last year due to early-season losses against Ohio State and a Houston team that was very good when healthy. They were fairly dominant throughout Big 12 play and against Auburn at the Sugar Bowl. QB Baker Mayfield has the potential to pull the Heisman/national-title-game-appearance double that Sooner great Sam Bradford did nine years ago. Ultimately, Oklahoma's defense will determine how far they go. The sky is the limit for this group.

Cobainism 5 QB Baker Mayfield marches for a Heisman and a third consecutive Big 12 title, as his action-packed Sooner offense is among the best in college football. The defense hasn't been elite, but star LB Ogbonnia Okoronkwo and CB Jordan Thomas are set to play at a championship level for Lincoln Riley. Speaking of Riley, the newbie 33-year old HC, I predict he'll rise to the occasion and lead his squad to a conference title. The Bedlam games are must-watch TV for any football fan, and Oklahoma will come out as the victor -- twice!

IAMAVelociraptorAMA 6 11-2.  Only really lost Joe Dixon.  I was never a huge fan of Stoops so I think his departure won't hurt them as much as some people are thinking, and I'm high on Lincoln Riley.  I don't know.  Oklahoma never seems to make sense.

jmac_21 6 Baker Mayfield returning will be huge as the Sooners begin their first season under new HC Lincoln Riley.I expect the Defense to be much stronger this season, but OU will have some huge road games this season that will be tough.

Our-Gardian-Angel 6 Bob Stoops is gone, but he left behind a boatload of talent for Lincoln Riley. Baker Mayfield and the OU offense will be fantastic once again. Whether or not they can contend for a national title will likely hinge on whether or not they can field something resembling a defense.

WhiteBaseCoat 6 In my mind, Oklahoma's in a similar boat to USC. They're a little more experienced even if they don't match up talent wise, it's just that Lincoln Riley is an unknown commodity. He'll more than likely be good, but you never want to put too much trust in a year 1 coach. Or at least, I don't.

Arsenal7X 7 They lost Samaje Perine and some other good running back but they still have the ol' gunslinger Baker Mayfield, fresh off a drunken run-in with a vaunted SEC defense down in Fayetteville. Not Arkansas' defense though, I said "vaunted". I meant the cops, in case it wasn't obvious. He got arrested. Oh yeah and they have a new coach, btw. Lincoln Riley is like 13 years old and he's already the head coach of a blue blood program. When I was 13 I played with Beyblades.

noahthearc 8 Baker is silently setting historic efficiency numbers. The Sooners are always a tough out and I don't see much of a drop off, even with the coaching change.
Rainbow_Beefcake 8 I think losing stoops will hurt. A lot. But they're still the sooners, and they're still my overwhelming favorite to run through the big 12(10, because there's only 10 teams in it so why in the world is it called the big 12 that makes no sense). Anyhoo, Baker Mayfield is returning for what seems like his 9th season, and that guy can sling it.

beerslingerjay 9 No shade intended by ranking OU one spot below OSU. I'm pretty sure Baker Mayfield is older than their new coach. Losses to their top RB and WR worry me, as well as the spontaneous new coach. Anyway, they're Oklahoma, and they'll be fine.

Ghost_of_Dude 10 The Sooners still have plenty of talent to make a playoff run, especially returning Heisman candidate Baker Mayfield, but with a new head coach there may be some growing pains. Their week 2 matchup against Ohio State in Columbus will be very telling of what kind of team they'll be.

Knightro2011 10 OU features one of the largest university-based natural history museums and home to a pentaceratops skull that is over 10 feet high.
mickeyquicknumbers 10 Oklahoma has a LOT going for them. Yes they replace basically their entire skill position depth chart, and I think that will set them back a hair, but returning one of the best OL's in the nation and a heisman caliber QB is going to be. The defense may not having many budding all-american types, but they'll be the most experienced they've been in a long while. Altogether I would have considered putting them 5th, above Okie St., but a coaching change scares me, especially for a coach that is this young. I know that everythin he's touched has turned to gold in his relatively short coaching career - but managing a major program is difficult to do, so I'm hedging by moving oklahoma down to here.
