Arguably the best QB in the country, was the best team in the country second half of last season, lost some pieces on offense but only Alabama has recruited better so I expect them to replenish their lost receivers. |

I'm really high on Darnold. Like REALLLYYY high. As in Heisman high. Pair that with the fact that SC has a stacked roster yet again and you have all the makings for the perfect season in Hollywood.  |

I don't see these guys taking any steps back. They finished incredibly strong last year and Darnold is the real deal. Some new receivers, but they pretty much grow NFL caliber receivers on the campus palm trees. I think SC ends up going undefeated this year. |

Darnold is legit and is surrounded by weapons. They'll put up 40+ points every game this year (especially since they don't have to open with Bama this year) |

We all know how several NFL teams are tanking for The Darnold (you can now add the Jaguars to the list with how utterly uninspiring Bortles has been now in his 4th year in the league), but you have to wonder if the bye-less regular season will take a toll on the team late in the season, as Clay Helton's squad plays 3 of its final 5 games on the road. |

#4 in 5-year recruiting average. Has a proven playmaker at QB. I still need to see more out of Helton, but he finished last season strong and has a talented roster that returns a good amount. This team could get on a roll, and I expect them to make the playoff. |

USC has numerous holes to fill on offense now, but with arguable Heisman favorite The_Darnold remaining their centerpiece, I don't see much of a step back for this team. |

Coming off a thrilling Rose Bowl win, USC once again enters the season with lofty expectations. Sam Darnold is expected to be a Heisman contender, and a running game to go along with him could make for one deadly offense. |

I've got USC down at 5 because I'm just not sure if I trust Clay Helton yet. Their offense isn't as experienced as it could be, as well, even if Sam Darnold is awesome. |

USC goes 10-3 in the regular season, but end fairly strong which is why they appear above Stanford. Drop their first meeting vs Stanford the 2nd game of the season, along with visits to Pullman and South Bend. However, they represent the South in the CCG as they beat every other south team and they all have 1 other loss.  |

Darnold
and Ronald (almost an anagram) are the obvious "reasons to love USC in
2017". RJII is poised for an all-PAC12 type season as a rusher, and Sam
Darnold is earning #1 pick hype after his freshman year; count me in on the
hype for both of these players. The rest of the team has a collective one too
many questions that I think are being overlooked. Darnold's sophomore year is
going to have to rely on a new receiving group after losing his top-2
receivers, including the fantastic Juju-Smith-Schuster; he's also going to
have to do it after losing two 1st team and one 2nd team all-PAC12 linemen -
unquestionably the 3 best linemen on the team last year. That's someonewhat
alarming. I think for those reasons the Trojan offense will not quite be the
powerhouse that some expect it to be, so here they sit. |

LSU and USC in the top ten again?  What is this, 2007?I'm not as high on USC as some others are.  They were absolutely shellacked by Bama and Stanford and their win against PSU was an either-or affair.  Don't get me wrong - I think USC is a good team, but I'm not sure how to judge Helton's coaching and they always seem to underperform when they're ranked high.  I expect them to be on the cusp, the edge of top 10. |

USC was one of the hottest teams in football after The Darnold took over. However, their schedule may have had something to do with that. The Trojans did post a truly impressive win over Washington and an explosive offense covered up some major defensive deficiencies in their Rose Bowl victory against Penn State. A tough September should give us some answers and the Trojans are capable of coasting through the rest of the season if they survive the first month unscathed. |
