I went back and forth with Stanford and LSU. I decided on Stanford due to having played three solid teams. Though LSU's Auburn win is fantastic. |

With a last second win @Auburn, LSU may have the best win in the country so far. I'm still not convinced how good Miami will be this year yet, however. |

Based solely on their wins, they probably deserve to be #1, if everyone is being honest with themselves. However I think while they are very talented, I think Bama, Clemson, UGA, and tOSU, are clearly more talented. and when it comes to the QB situation, they are again, CLEARLY worse than all those teams plus Oklahoma. I still don't trust that they wont lose a game they shouldn't, but they have the defense to get them to the CFP, and thats crucial. They got Ole Miss next who I would have ranked 25 if I were able to, So this would be another quality win if they do it. Literally if they can win 3 or 4 of their next 5 games, that will be damn impressive. Easily the top SOS so far imo. |

I'm honestly uncomfortable putting this many SEC teams this high, but it is what it is. LSU probably has the best resumé in the country. I would have them even higher if they hadn't struggled at home against a mediocre team this week (I don't like my rankings to stagnate). Might bump them back up if it proves to be a temporary hiccup. |

My only concern with LSU outside the ranked wins are beating an FCS team by 31 & 17 points vs LA Tech. I just expect more from a potential playoff team.  |

Wins against 3-1, 2-1 and FCS teams at home and a win against a 3-1 team on the road get LSU up to here. |

LSU wins over a G5 foe by an okay margin, not a dominant win, but LSU sometimes does struggle with inferior opponents. Not moving them this week |

I currently have LSU well above their computer numbers after multiple impressive performances against good teams (Miami, Auburn). Their defense is for real and I like Joe Burrow well enough. Can their offense sustain an acceptable level of output while taking a four-week beating from Florida, Georgia, Miss St., and Alabama? |

1/9 in Tier J: If I did a human poll, I would probably rank them higher, but they have a relatively low value in the preseason component of the ranking, keeping them so far down. |
