YellowSkarmory Ballot for 2018 Week 5

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 24, 2018, 7:05 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Good wins/bad losses are beginning to shape themselves more, as MOV falls more into the background. I am going to look at road wins, and teams with losses will start entering the rankings now, because there's not 25 undefeated teams. If you have any more questions, respond to the comment I post in the r/CFB poll thread or /u/ me in the poll thread. I'm happy to answer them. Or get yelled at infinitely. Won't be quite as happy if the 2nd one happens but i'll still answer your questions.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide Crushing everyone, they don't have any explicitly good win but all teams they've played have been at least .500. I guess Ole Miss is a fairly good win. Either way Bama is god and #1.
Ohio State Buckeyes No good win, TCU is 2-2, everyone else they've played is 1-3. They have beaten everyone by at least 10 points, though. Win against TCU was on the road which boosts it.
Penn State Nittany Lions The OT game against App State is slightly unsettling even though App State is 2-1, resume isn't enough to get past OSU.
Georgia Bulldogs Good wins on the road against SCar and Missouri plus good MOV get them into the top 5.
LSU Tigers Wins against 3-1, 2-1 and FCS teams at home and a win against a 3-1 team on the road get LSU up to here.
Stanford Cardinal 2 wins against 3-1 teams, including 1 on the road, and a win over a 2-2 team get them to here. Blew out their FCS opponent too. Not higher because of not great MOV.
Oklahoma Sooners Nothing especially special, wins against 2-2, 1-2 on the road, 0-3 and 2-2. MOV isn't great but the resume is better than Kentucky.
Kentucky Wildcats 2 wins against 3-1 teams is good, including 1 on the road, and Kentucky gets up to here because of that. MOV isn't that good though, and outside of that they've only beaten a 1-3 team and blew out an FCS team. Keeps them here.
Duke Blue Devils Road wins against 3-1 and 1-2 teams, and home wins against 2-2 and FCS teams. Not quite enough to get past Kentucky though with their MOV being kinda weak.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Wins against 3-1, 2-2 and 1-3 teams at home and a 2-2 team on the road get them to here. Not great MOV keeps them below Duke.
Clemson Tigers Good wins, decent MOV, not good enough though to get past ND. Why do I make these explanations anyway if they're going to be this short? Maybe I should re-make these later.
Syracuse Orange Good MOV, decent wins. Gets em here.
North Texas Mean Green Wins aren't that good, home against 1-3, road against 1-3, road against 1-2, home against FCS. Good MOV but not enough to get any higher.
West Virginia Mountaineers MOV is slightly worse than UCF, wins are slightly better, enough to get past them, and also Buffalo.
Buffalo Bulls Wins over 2 2-2 teams, 1 on the road and a blowout win over a 1-3 team on the road, along with a home blowout win against an FCS team gets them above UCF. Not quite enough to get past WVU though.
UCF Knights Home blowout wins against 2-2 FAU and FCS SC State and a road blowout of UConn can't get them much higher than this. I'm not sure how much the UNC game would've helped, but probably some because they would have another win.
USF Bulls Wins over a 2-2 team on the road, and 1-2, 1-3 and FCS teams at home. Not spectacular MOV, but is enough to get past NC State.
NC State Wolfpack Similar to UCF, but slightly better wins and much worse MOV. Knocks them below USF too.
California Golden Bears Wins against 3-1, 1-2 and FCS teams without great MOV get them to here. 3-1 win was on the road, but still not a great resume.
Cincinnati Bearcats Wins against 0-3, 1-3, 1-2 and FCS teams aren't great, and the MOV isn't exactly solid outside of Alabama A&M. Keeps them down here.
Colorado Buffaloes Blowout win against a 1-4 team, close win against an 0-3 team, blowout win against an FCS team. Not great, leaves them down here.
Texas Tech Red Raiders
Maryland Terrapins
Wisconsin Badgers
Texas Longhorns
