LSU looked dominant in a win over what everyone expected to be a very good Miami team. We'll see if that Miami team continues to look good, but that seemed to be a very impressive win.  |

LSU always will have talent, but they came out and simply out coached Miami almost from the get go. The game wasn't close and I'm excited to see what the SEC West brings us this year. |

Either Miami regressed, or LSU is dominant. Time will tell, but for now LSU gets the benefit of the doubt. |

That was a stout defense, but how much of their stoutness was actually Miami's offensive problems? |

Another SEC team in my top 10...for now. Do I think LSU could stay up here? ehhh maybe, but they definitely surprised me. Along with Miami surprising me in a different way. LSU seemed to easily take care of Miami. I'm now interested and terrified to see where the gumbo enthusiasts go this season. |

LSU with a jump this week. I had LSU at 14 last week, so its not that big of a move for my poll, but they still deserve to moved up based on their thrashing of Miami. The defense is as strong as ever and it looks like they might actually have a passing game! |

Blew out a top 10 team. The score looked closer than it ever was due to some last minute push by Miami, but it was never a game.Note* Miami is not in my Top 25 for reasons. |

Incredible showing from LSU against a Miami team that *might* have been just a bit overrated. Nevertheless, LSU will round out my top 10 as the fourth-ranked SEC team. |

They have a QB who doesn't suck completely, so thats a step in the right direction for LSU. Ran the ball pretty well, though that's not a surprise. Struggled in the 2nd half to do much on offense. And in the first half they did start like every drive on the 40 or better, which really helped the offense out. Defensively I think they are going to be one of the best teams. I'm definitely not completely sold on them, and think they'll definitely drop a few games. I think they probably could beat ND, but we'll see how they play vs Auburn before pushing them too high. |

Is LSU that good or was Miami that overrated? Probably both, but since we did think Miami was as good as they were, I can't help but move LSU into the top 10 for now. The other reason for the high ranking is that I can't find another team that I think actually belongs here. |

LSU dominated Miami for much of the game, up 30 at one point, before giving up 14 points late; while LSU certainly benefited from some questionable (non-)calls, they still looked very good and see a big jump as a result. |

LSU, in the lone Saturday night game, defeated Miami 33-17 in a game that never felt that close. The defense played well early, getting a pick 6 in the first quarter to go up 27-3. Rosier had pressure in his face all night, which gave the Miami offense fits. Transfer QB Joe Burrow could have played better after completing less than 50% of his passes, but he might not have to if the defense and run game stay productive. The Tigers travel to Auburn and Florida and hosts Georgia in the next month and a half. We will know a lot more about the team after those games. |

My biggest jumper. I have absolutely 0 faith in Ensminger as an offensive coordinator, but Burrow looked really good and the defense was a solid LSU defense as per usual. I really, really like Coach Eaux so I hope they continue to do well.  |

I hesitated to put LSU this high because the win over Miami was hardly comprehensive, but they had a better win than all the teams ranked below them. Dave Aranda's defense came to play and their offense showed signs of life that were missing the last few years. It's still going to be a murderous schedule, but it was a solid OOC win to start the season. |

LSU let off the gas early in the 3rd quarter leading to a scoreline not near as lopsided as the game showed. LSU's receivers dropping balls that hit their hands didn't help that fact either. Still, this team looks much better than whatever the AP saw heading into week 1. As with the Auburn-Washington game, I try not to overreact too much to week 1 ranked match-ups, but LSU looked ready to prove they're here to compete in the SEC. As for now, Georgia and Alabama are in a tier of their own while LSU and Auburn get ready for the week 3 slugfest in the Tiger tier. If LSU's receivers don't drop the ball (literally) the rest of this team has top 10 potential. Just like Auburn that might not be good enough for the playoff with Georgia and Bama on the schedule, but for now, the sky's the limit. |

While the win over Miami was quite good, it should be said that it only got that ugly because of costly turnovers on the part of Miami. Otherwise that game was statistically much closer than it looked. I give LSU lots of credit for playing and winning against a quality opponent week 1, But even so jumping them this high feels like an overreaction to me. I'm still doing it, mind you, I just want it known why I'm not putting Miami under LSU this week. |

I've been fairly low on Miami since mid-season last year and don't put as much stock into this win as most pollsters will. I'm also loath to ever buy into Ed Orgeron hype and am not buying stocks in Joe Burrow right now either. Like Notre Dame, LSU went into cruise control a little too much for my liking. Despite all that, I'm still jumping the Tigers over USC for now and hoping that they don't make me look stupid for doing so. |

LSU was the first team out of my preseason top 25, and the biggest reason for that was Coach O. I'm still not convinced he's a great long-term head coach, but this team definitely convinced me that it's talented enough to win anyways. |

Was previously 25.  Can't tell how much of the win was LSU being good vs Miami being bad.  One thing is certain Joe Burrow can't throw for shit.  Great game manager as cliche as that is, but 11 for 24 with only 5.8 yards per attempt is really bad.  LSU will need to see him develop to be a real threat in the SEC. |
