Maybe I'm being overly skeptical, but I don't trust the post-Kelly Oregon regime as much as others seem to. Last year's QB saga combined with their awful defense doesn't instill confidence. I'll revise my tune here if they come out strong, but otherwise I'm not willing to give the vote of confidence. |

I feel as though nobody is talking about the Ducks this year. Helfrich might not be as good as Kelly was and the team seemed to fall apart without a good QB last year, but they still won 9 games. The Pac-12 North comes down to Stanford and Oregon until proven otherwise. Even without as many returning starters and big what-if? at QB I have more faith in Oregon than Washington/Wazzu. |

I think their defense improves, and no one has a problem with their offense. They started to show their true colors (green?) at the end of last season, and I think they'll continue to carry that into next season. |

Still won 9 games last year with a god-awful defense. As long as Prukop is servicable and Hoke improves the defense just a bit, they have too much talent to not have another pretty good season. Right below UW because they can go fuck themselves. |

Will Oregon bounce back after somewhat of a letdown season? Their division should be a little more competitive this year.  |

Oregon's development over the long-run is very concerning, but they have so much talent it's impossible to keep them out of the the top 20 or so. |

Oregon could be at a turning point in the program going into Helfrich's 4th year. These are no longer Chip Kelly's guys, Helfrichs fingerprints are firmly on the pgroam. The pressure is on in Eugene to reclaim in the PAC 12 after a 9-4 season, the Ducks first year in the post-Mariota era. The offense should be the speedy offense it always is, but the defense simply needs to be better. The 2015 Oregon defense was the worst unit in Duck history. If the Ducks don't contend for the PAC 12 title, the Duck faithful will not be pleased.  |

While they did not return much of their offense, they returned 80% of their defense and were fairly unlucky last year. Their recruiting rankings were poor, however they could make a run built on their defense (which is just weird to think about). |

After enjoying the success of FCS transfer Vernon Adams III, Oregon snagged the top FCS QB in Dakota Prukop for another temporary bandage at the position. Shifty back and preseason Heisman candidate, Royce Freeman, should be able to help Prukop adapt. The Ducks also brought in Brady Hoke to drag the defense out of the cellar. |

in 2015 Oregon looked like a top-10 team with Vernon Adams and a top-50 team without him, highlight just how insanely important good QB play is in this system. This year they have no Vernon Adams, and are hoping for a Vernon Adams replica in Dakota Prukop. If he can split the difference between Adams and Lockie, that leaves them... 30th? Probably higher than that, actually, given Royce Freeman is now a year more experienced, and 6 of the 7 receivers who had at least 150 yards in 2015 return. Defensively, Oregon wasn't just mediocre in 2015, they were downright bad. Like, 85th nationally and 54th among the 64 P5 teams bad. Their front 7 loses 3 of their four leaders in tackles on the DL, and their four leading tacklers from the LB; included in that group was the one great player on their defense - Deforest Buckner, a 1st round draft pick. There is some serious downside to Oregon's run defense and pass rush this year. The counterbalancing optimism lies in the secondary, where all 8 defensive backs who recorded at least 15 tackles returns. This is great news for an atrocious 2015 pass defense, as there is probably no place on the defense that experience matters more than in the secondary. With any kind of optimism for their QB play, and hopefulness that at least, the passing D moves from very bad to simply average or below average, there's plenty of reason to see Oregon able to outgun a lot of teams in 2016. |
