Georgia's performance last week against Kentucky seemed to be an indicator that the reigning champs were back in form. After a mixed performance against vandy, I am gonna put them at 2 below Michigan. If Bowers comes back to close the season in SEC champ game/playoff, this team can beat anyone. Will be interesting to see how the UGA offense performs without him since it is sadly not a guarantee one of CFB's best players returns this season. Without Bowers in some other games this season, UGA may not be undefeated right now. |

Shakiest team in the top 7, and drop one spot from last week due to injury to Bowers and lackadaisical play against non ranked opponents. Plus, Kentucky win looks less impressive |

This team has flickers of greatness and can look like the obvious #1 some weeks, like against Kentucky, but they've also had some close games you wouldn't expect. Only beating Vanderbilt by 17? Auburn by 7? South Carolina by 10? This team has the bones of a playoff contender but there's clearly still some rust to shake off. |

Georgia looked alright against the Commodores, but South Carolina and Auburn both lost again, which makes their struggles against them look worse. More importantly, Georgia's marquee win over Kentucky took a serious hit with the Wildcats losing at home to Mizzou. Georgia has a bye, then a matchup with a decent Florida team. We'll see if they can take advantage of the time off. |

An impressive showing by Vanderbilt put Georgia in a tough spot their talent could dig them out of. Still, Vandy is one of the worst teams my model has and Georgia has yet to face anyone (Kentucky fallen). Georgia is held down by poor resume. |

Losing Bowers is a tough blow for this squad...though consensus thought seems to be that no team they play while he is gone will be able to take advantage. The Dawgs remain back here because they haven't beaten anyone of note. |

0 SP+ T-10 or T-25 wins. Georgia and Michigan are the only undefeated teams that have played seven games through Week 7. But they haven't played an SP+ T-25 team yet, so it's hard to say they've earned a higher ranking, especially considering that teams like FSU, Washington, and even Alabama have proved they deserve to be ranked higher and have the receipts to back it up. Do I think Georgia is the eighth-best team in the country? No. But I'm not going to award them a higher ranking unless they play and beat nationally relevant teams. |
