Will Kirk Ferentz be able to live up to this years expectations, or will his Hawkeye squad once again disappoint a very passionate fanbase? Iowa returns almost their entire roster from one of their best seasons in history. They will be lead by arguably the best QB in the Big Ten, CJ Beathard. The defense will be anchored by Jim Thorpe winner CB Desmond King, and stud LB Josey Jewell. While they won't be 12-0 like last year, if all goes according to plan don't be surprised if the Hawkeyes are 9-0 or 8-1 going into their Nov 12 match up with Michigan under the lights in Iowa City. Iowa should be able to win the Big Ten West again and secure a trip to Indianapolis, but after seasons like 2010 Hawkeye fans know to keep their expectations for Kirk Ferentz lead teams tempered.  |

Returning CJ Beathard and Desmond King, the Hawkeyes are an easy favorite to make it to Indianapolis in an underwhelming West division. |

A great season last year and I expect Ferentz to have them ready again. I doubt it will be quite as good a season as last year, but no one expected that season last year. I think their season earns them a top 15 spot in the preseason at the very least. |

I don't think the Hawkeyes will have quite as good of a season as last year. They also will not be high in my poll until later in the year because they don't really play good teams. |

Iowa went 12-0 last year and won the B1G West. I know right? Sure, they came up short of MSU and got obliterated by Stanford, but they won 12 games. They've got a mostly easy schedule this year with Michigan, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Northwestern at home and could easily repeat as champs of the West Division. |

Iowa returned about 75% of both their offense and defense. They won 12 games last year, yet failed to get even one 4 star recruit. They will regress this year, but they could still manage to make a run for the B1G Title.  |

I think some regression is obvious with this team, but Kirk will do what Kirk will do and they will win some scrappy games. |

Homer pick? Maybe. But this defense is terrifyingly good. Desmond King is the best corner in the country, and on the other side Mabin is no slouch. If you want to run the ball, Jewell is an NFL-ready LB and Bazata and Johnson are solid on the line. On offense they've got a star QB in Beathard and several RBs and WRs who have shown flashes. If the O-line is as good as it can be, 11-1 or even 12-0 is very possible. |

Feel that I might be underrating Iowa, but their predictable style and horrendous Rose Bowl performance are weighing them down in my opinion. They dodge MSU and OSU on the schedule, so they might be a team that isn't as good as their record leads you to believe at the end of the year. |

After an unprecedented 12-0 start to 2015, the Hawkeyes lost a heartbreaker to the Spartans, crushing their hopes of a Playoff berth. A lighter schedule that features one pre-season top 25 opponent, will help them get to the championship game. Iowa knows what they are capable of, but will they be able to keep up with the tough other side of the conference. |

They won a bunch the lost a couple last year.  I didn't do a good enough job keeping up with all the Iowa Hawkeyes off-season news to know anything about this team.....so #23 seems right.   |
