Move up 1 spot with Utah losing. Their depth is a concern but the starters hung 50 on CMU very quickly. |

Central did get the backdoor cover but thy still looked like a good team. If this trend continues it may be grounds for a future drop but no movement now |

I like the hire of Derek Mason a lot. He's a great coach and to the extent that anyone can shore up the loss of Jim Knowles, he can. But they also return the least defensive production in the P5. They're going to leak points like a sieve no matter who's coaching. I just think they're too talented and too well-coached not to do well anyway. |

Looked as good as they could against Central Michigan for a quarter or two and then looked as bad as they could’ve for the rest of the game. If the defense has regressed to this degree, they’re in rough shape. Can’t give up over 40 to CMU and expect to go far with Spencer Sanders at QB. |

OK State started the game against CMU strong, but gave up a lot of points late. Hopefully this is an exception and not the start of a trend. |

The lack of defensive pressure in the second half nearly costed the Cowboys the game. They allowed 44 points in all. Against a MAC team. A slight drop, but harshly penalizing for wins seems unfair (ignore my future hypocrisy) |

Oklahoma State came into the season as a favorite to win the Big 12, but their defense that led the team to success last season looked like a shell of itself against CMU. There were a lot of losses, including DC Jim Knowles, but giving up 44 to CMU is not a good sign. |

Week 1: Oklahoma State 58, Central Michigan 44
Record: 1-0
In the first game since former defensive coordinator Jim Knowles left to assume the same role at Ohio State, Oklahoma State looked more like the offense-dependent Cowboys of old. Oklahoma State led 51-15 at one point in the third quarter before the Chippewas came roaring back. The good news for the Cowboys: Spencer Sanders might be the best QB in the state this year. |
