Lost Justin Fields but my other top 3 teams also lost their starting QB. Ohio State has the best group of receivers in the country and with a most likely much improved defense, they could be good enough to win it all. |

Who are the Ohio State Buckeyes? What exactly is it that they do? Do they even play their games? How is it that they keep ending up in the playoffs? We've been asking ourselves these questions since at least February, 2020. |

In my judgment, Ohio State is the most talented roster in the country, but the talent is clustered on offense. They have a lot of players on defense who have spent time in the system, but not a ton of players who've really gotten snaps in live action. That means there's more downside than we're used to from the Buckeyes, but if C.J. Stroud is even 75% of the QB that Justin Fields was, they will run the table in the conference. |

Ohio State may have lost Justin Fields, but their coaching and recruiting still lands them up here. I expect them to be playoff contenders once again. |

This is my end of season poll last year. They earned these spots last year and get them to start the season this year.  |

Lot of focus on QB battle, but my biggest concern is defensive production in the back 7. They could easily be ranked #1 or #2 in two weeks depending on how they handle Minnesota and Oregon. |

Ryan Day seems to be setting up to keep the ball rolling but this will be his first real test with more of his own recruits earning playing time and a bunch of good players to replace.  They should be really good of course. |

One of the most talent rich programs in the nation, the Buckeyes will need to grow quickly as they only return 11 starters and as such fall to the No. 6 slot in my preseason ranking. However, they are deadly to all but the most elite teams and Ryan Day has a track record of keeping the Buckeyes in prime position.  |
