itsabearcannon 5 I like Richt's chances in year two. Banking on the second-year bump.

mellolizard 5 I might have them too high but I think the U is back.
Miami_da_U 5 I know the most about Miami:Talent wise, they're the best they've been in over a decade and a half. they have one of the top LB and DB groups in the Nation with Jaquan Johnson, Michael Jackson, Shaq Quarterman, Mike Pinkney, etc. They lost a lot on the DL, but I don't expect any drop off at all, as they essentially just reloaded at the position. So defensively I think they are set to be better than last year where they were at or near the top in turnovers, sacks, tfls, yards/play, etc. Offensively RB and WR is loaded, but have major questions along the OL and QB. the OL has a lot of experience, but they weren't very good last year, especially in the run game. And now they moved their former RT to LT, and former RG to RT. If those two position switches work out their OLine will be good, if not this offense could stumble (though likely still be quite explosive). At Qb, Malik Rosier is going to start, and I think most Hurricane fans are hoping one of the Freshman (Nkosi Perry, Jarren Williams, or Cade Weldon) step up and beat him out for the starting job. So ultimately if they get good QB play, and the OLine holds up, they have a great chance at winning out, at least until Clemson. Can they beat Clemson? Or at least keep it close and still make the CFP?

woakley 6 Is the U back? Oh yeah, the U is back. Miami proved last year that the can once again hang with the big dogs of college football. This team will go as far as the defense and arm of Rosier can carry them. Big test with LSU right out of the gate will tell us right away who the U will be this year

T-Thugs 7 Miami could be a tough competitor with Clemson this year for the ACC.

xelphin 7 Miami has something to prove this year, and will very easily be a power for the ACC. Their talent and pre-season predictions have them this high, but they have a few difficult hurdles. Not playing Clemson in the regular season will definitely help them in the long run - but they will have to play them if they can win out their division of the ACC.

JeromesNiece 8 The Canes are on the come up and I think Mark Richt may have a viable challenger to Clemson here at Miami. Their schedule is relatively easy and I predict they return to the ACC title game.

Blooblod 9 The U had some huge losses on the d-line this offseason, but don't let that distract you from the fact that Kansas beat Texas in football. Miami will still have a scary-good d-line though; DEs Joe Jackson and Demetrius Jackson missed a combined nine games last season but still racked up 18 TFLs and 10 sacks together . . . oh, and they both played less snaps than now-departed Chad Thomas and Trent Harris. Shaquille Quarterman and Michael Pinckney leads one of the best LB corps in the country while Jaquan Johnson and Michael Jackson lead what could also be one of the best secondaries. The offense's preview is pretty simple. RBs: stacked. Receivers: stacked. O-line: tackles and center should be good, guards could be a problem. QB: . . . yikes. My Hurricanes record prediction: 11-1. It seems like a lot of people are skeptical of the Canes repeating a double digit win regular season but I think this team is absolutely stacked outside of QB and OG. I have Boston College knocking off the Canes in a crazy night game in Chestnut Hill, but that's the only L.

Extra_Excrement 9 Richt seems to be rejuvenated at his alma mater and has a solid number of returning players to work with. I'm hearing that he still isn't great at building offense lines though. No matter, as their defense should be stout. The big question is will coastal chaos knock off the Hurricanes? Maybe, but it's not worth predicting when/where chaos strikes and in the ACC Coastal it's like trying to pinpoint what food just gave you Montezuma's revenge. Sure, the signs of chaos are there but your gut is all over the place and it's best to just buckle down for the bowel-twisting ride you're about to set out on.

chrisb19 10 Mark Richt is a perennial 10-win coach and until he fixes his defensive problems, his Miami team will have the same ceiling that was all too familiar to UGA fans for 15 years. I anticipate a very similar season to last year - 10 wins in the relatively easy ACC and then getting exposed in a bowl game against a 10 win team from a more competitive conference.

mjacksongt 10 They've certainly got talent - and are more talented than every team they play. But they were so inconsistent last year and I can't see that changing much. The DL needs work, and they return talent from an OL that wasn't spectacular last year. The skill positions and back 7 on D should be great though.

boxman151515 12 The QB situation is sort of iffy, and the defensive line might take a step back. But if they can sort those situations out, Miami could win the ACC. They're stacked pretty much everywhere else.

PHubbs 12 Miami enters this season as my second best team in the ACC, yet I'm still not very high on them actually unseating Clemson from the top spot. This should be a down year for the ACC with Clemson in the drivers seat, a good Miami in the back, and no one else even in the car. Virginia Tech and FSU have some possible potential and will likely end up in the bottom of half of the top 25 at season's end. But Clemson and Miami are the only two teams vying for new year's bowl spots with Clemson being the closest thing in the country to a playoff lock.

HUSKEROYAL 13 Mark Richt's program made tremendous strides in his second season, going 10-0 before dropping the final 3 games. This team should once again be solid and compete for the ACC Coastal title, but cane they take the next step this year?

mickeyquicknumbers 16 Malik Rosier on the whole played better than anyone expected, and anyone seems to be remembering right now. If he gets passed for the starting job that means good things for Miami. The receiving group will miss Berrios and Herndon, but there is tons of talent waiting in the wings. While the offense should take steps forward, I have Miami ranked comparatively lower than most polls because the defensive line is a tremendous question mark for this team. Of the five lead tacklers, four are leaving, and that could be a huge problem for a defense that relies on such aggressive line play. As a result I think they'll finish about 10-3 again.
