T-Thugs 4 Christian McCaffrey should have won the Heisman. I'm not sure if this team will take a step backwards, but having the best player on the field is always a good sign. We should know where Stanford stands pretty early on.

monkeymatt1836 5 The reigning Pac 12 and Rose Bowl champs open this year with a new QB. Long time QB Kevin Hogan has moved on to the NFL, and coach David Shaw needs to replace one of the Cardinal's most successful QB in their history. Luckily, stub RB and Heisman runner-up Christian McCaffrey returns and should be the focal point of the Cardinals offense. Unluckily, all of Stanford's big games are on the road this year. Stanford has to travel to LA (UCLA), Seattle, South Bend, and Eugene. If Stanford can be road warriors look for them to have another great year.

kamikazeguy 6 Christian McCaffrey is pretty gud.  Not too big on the PAC 12 this year, unless USC can finally put it together, Stanford should walk through their conference schedule without too much difficulty, with a big test coming midway through the season in South Bend.

ssnider23 6 While Stanford did lose about 70% of their offense, they still have McCaffrey. He's pretty good. They kept most of their defense as well, and are poised to become the Pac-12 champions if they stay on track for the season.

BabyBladder 7 11-3. Pac-12 canalization continues. Losses to USC and Oregon in the regular season keep Stanford out of the Playoff discussion, but a win over UCLA in the PAC-12 CG sends Stanford to a Rose Bowl where they play a nail biter against the Big 10 runner-up (MSU)

G-manP 7 Christian McCaffrey comes back for his junior year looking to snag the trophy many believed he deserved more than Derrick Henry. This human Swiss Army knife can catch, run, and return as well as the best of them. A game changer, McCaffrey could easily lead his team to the CFB Final Four if he can match his play from last year

hokies220 7 We all know how good McCaffrey is, but who will replace Kevin Hogan along with a plethora of other starters? Tempted to have them a little lower, but I trust Shaw to have another solid team put together. Could lose to a purple Wildcat team in the opener two years running though.

BoboIsDead 8 Stanford has proven its ability to play ball with the big boys and the blue bloods.  Inexplicable losses like Northwestern and heartbreakers like Oregon need to be put to the back of Shaw's and his players' minds, and great wins like USC, UCLA, Notre Dame, and Iowa need to be incentive.

gohuskies 11 Lots of turnover on the O-Line, new QB, and a brutal schedule scare me a little bit. But Shaw has answered these questions before, so he gets the benefit of the doubt. They still have McCaffrey and an outstanding defense to lean on.

mickeyquicknumbers 21 Christian McCaffrey had the best season of any player in college football last year, and he returns. Everything else... yikes. Gone is Kevin Hogan and his extremely underrated passing efficiency. Gone is the left side of the offensive line - the markedly better one, mind you. Last year Stanford had one of the five best offenses in the nation, this year I expect that number to be closer to 15th.  That electric offense kept Stanford alive despite very real problems with their 2015 defense. The front seven looked quite average, and with the loss of Aziz Shittu, Brennan Scarlett, Blake Martinez, and Kevin Anderson it could downgrade to being a big weakness. The secondary isn't concerning at all, but I think teams will have a very real opportunity to move the ball on Stanford this year, and I don't trust their ability to move the ball on other teams quite as much.
sunburn_on_the_brain 21 New QB, and inexperience on the line.  McCaffrey is a hell of a player but I don't know that he'll be enough. If they can't throw the ball they'll be in danger of losing 4-5.
