This may be a little high as to where they probably should be, but I argue their resume having beaten a solid SDSU, USC, and at Oregon is pretty solid.   |

I was a little surprised to see Stanford this high, although by total points they're behind UGA, OSU, and LSU. But I won't put two teams from the same conference in the top four. |

For a moment, I thought I had to move Oregon to the top 6 and excuse the "first-year head coach" criteria relatively early. Stanford took advantage of every opportunity and truly tried their best. They believed in everything, and did not make a big deal out of it. |

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, as Stanford got outplayed - BUT if you're that lucky you have to be pretty good. Their passing attack is legit. |

Stanford looked like they were about to be blown out on the road in Eugene before rallying to beat the Ducks in OT. The Cardinal look to be the team in control of their own fate in the Pac-12. |

2 wins against 3-1 teams, including 1 on the road, and a win over a 2-2 team get them to here. Blew out their FCS opponent too. Not higher because of not great MOV. |

Stanford pulled out a win in Eugene. Now they have to set their sights on a trip to ND. I wasn't overly impressed with their wins vs SDST & UCD, but back to back wins in Eugene & South Bend would go a long way.  |

I really don't want to rank them this high, but I'm running low on top-10 candidates, and a win is a win (especially on the road against a rival). |

Their win over Oregon is good, but not as good of a win as ND has. I think they NEED to get Bryce Love going. He just has not been even close to the same player as last year. But he can really hurt ND. Top Defense making a QB on his 2nd start make mistakes and a heavy dose of Love can get them this win. Ultimately I expect Stanford to win this and jump up to 7 next week, as I think David Shaw is the superior coach, and in a game like this it'll come down to coaching. |

It was impressive the way they came back, but Oregon really punched them in the gut the first 2 quarters. Plus with a kneel down, UO would've won. |

Initially I was going to drop Stanford because they really should have lost to Oregon. The Ducks were right on the edge of Victory Formation territory and could have run almost the entire clock out by kneeling. That being said, it was a Top 20 road game and I didn't want to end up punishing the Cardinal more for almost losing a close one than I would have for actually losing it. They also showed admirable resilience in erasing a 17-point halftime deficit (on the road against a Top 20 team). Kudos to Stanford for the big win! |

Stanford stays at 9 for me. Did they beat a top 25 opponent? They sure did, but they needed overtime and some lucky breaks to do it. There is a pretty solid argument for moving them up, but for now I think that the 9 I had them at last week is right about right.  |
