Almost put them higher.#3 in 5-year recruiting rankings and I trust the coaching staff. With the returns I expect from a Matt Canada offense, this seems like the team that beat Bama. Still have a lot to prove, but have a returning QB to do it. |

I'm a little high on LSU - but LSU, like Alabama, does not require the talents of individual players on defense, and their defensive losses will not hurt them as much as it would hurt, say, A&M.  I believe with an improved QB situation they will be a top ten team; it remains to be seen is that improvement pans out.   |

We've all heard the same shtick on the Bayou Bengals: national championship-caliber defense, Outback Bowl-caliber offense. Derrius Guice is an amazing talent, but Orgeron's pilot season heavily depends on how impactful new OC Matt Canada is on the Tigers' offense. |

Les Miles is gone and Ed Orgeron has taken over the reigns in the Bayou. The defense will be great once again, but can Orgeron succeed where Miles failed in the later years of his tenure? Namely, that means finding a halfway competent QB and beating Alabama. |

Ceauxch Eaux has a very talented roster and two of the best coordinators in CFB coaching his offense and defense. If Canada turned Nate Peterman into an NFL draft pick, he'll have fun with all of the weapons at his disposal this year in Baton Rouge. Dave Aranda is good too and so is Arden Key who will hopefully be on the Chicago Bears next year to make up for my despair at the Trubisgod pick. |

I've got a weird run of SEC teams stuck in the middle, because they're all teams that could be really good or really disappointing. First up is LSU. I'm pretty worried about Ed Orgeron, and while they have a couple of great coordinators, they lost a lot on defense. They're extremely talented, so they beat out the next few SEC teams - I think they have a pretty high floor, if nothing else, and they do technically have the most experienced QB of the four - I'm just not ready to jump on the Coach O hype train yet. |

Continuing my list of SEC teams that could either go to the playoff or finish unranked, Coach Benchpress fall upwards into the head coaching position of LSU. Derrius Guice is the truth. I hear he'll be going by "Leonard Fivenette" by the end of the year. |

LSU plays hard for Coach O, but it's hard not to, that guy is awesome. LSU could be real if they can get their offense to click. |

Under Les Miles, LSU were always loaded with talent but often seemed to underperform in the passing game despite an embarrassment of riches at the receiver position. Will Ed Orgeron be a welcome change in Baton Rouge or the beginning of a rebuilding period? They're too good to fail on paper but will need to prove it on the field before they jump any of the established winners ranked ahead of them. |

Ehhh. Ed Orgeron was a bad head coach. Maybe he's not anymore, but the last time he was a head coach he was a bad one - and I include his tenure at LSU in that statement. LSU has grabbed themselves an very good DC, an OC with perhaps more to prove than people would think, and a roster that lost a *lot* to the draft. I mean in terms of pure total talent heading out the door from last year, LSU trails only Michigan and maybe Alabama as far as losses go. LSU recruits like a national title contender, but for the aforementioned reasons, and because they play in a division where literally every game is a "losable" one, I'm going to mark this down as a 4-loss team.  |
