I think they can win the Big 12, which isn't in my opinion as powerful a conference as some think (Baylor still being seen as top 25 kind of tilts the scales for a lot of people.) |

After the top-6 I think rankings are a total crapshoot, so I'll go with TCU. Give me one of the three or four best coaches in college football right now, with a defense should see a *dramatic* return to historic form as the class of the Big-12. The offense is doing half of a total rebuild with no Docson, Boykin, Green, or any of the 3 all Big-12 offensive lineman they had last year; but there are plenty of experienced receiving and rushing options left, and I don't believe Kenny Hill's crucifixion at A&M was as much an act of his own doing as most people believe. Of all the teams I have ranked 7th or lower, TCU's problems appear to be the least problematic. |

They get Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State at home this year. Those games, with the exception of Arkansas, are a long ways away though. I've learned to not underestimate TCU and Patterson though. |

Huge dropoff in the Big 12 behind OU and TCU |
mgmfa
|

Their defense should be extremely good, and their offense has a good chance to be elite as well. That was about as generic as commentary gets but without games to base it off of, we're all just guessing. |

Will drop in week 1, but could move back up by beating Arkansas in week 2. Hopefully can avoid the injury bug. |

TCU had a disappointing season at the end last year, but still a great year, and their performance in an incredible bowl game with a backup QB shows that even when problems arise, they can roll with the punches. Patterson has that team ready for just about anything, but I'm not yet convinced they are a top 10 team...right now. |

TCU is probably better than 13. But I forgot about them when I first started making this poll so I though them in the middle hoping nobody would notice.   |

Gary Patterson is one of the longest tenured head coaches in CFB for a reason. After back to back double digit win seasons expectations are soaring in Fort Worth. However, Patterson has to replace stud QB Trevone Boykin, which is not a guy you can simply replace. If TCU gets QB play sorted out, look for them to once again contend for the Big 12 title.  |

TCU lost about 70% of their offensive production and kept much of their defense. They had a poor recruiting class at #22, and lost Josh Doctson. While the Big XII is weaker this year with Baylor likely falling out of the picture, TCU could certainly still make a run for the CFP. |

So Boykin is gone. Doctson is gone too. Gary Patterson don't cur. TCU adapts well and will continue to as long as GP runs the show. However, they are only returning one starter on offense, as well as adding former A&M starting QB, Kenny Hill. The defense will need to be stout early as the O takes some time to get going. If it does, we all know what can happen. |
