I can't justify them above 3-loss Pac teams with tougher conference schedule (can't believe that's a real sentence).

Armed with a Bama win, a missed-extra point loss that the committee would forgive, and a crack next week at top-ranked Georgia, there was an obvious avenue for LSU to become the first 2-loss entrant in the current iteration of the CFP. Enter Jimbo Fisher's 4-7 Fightin' Texas Moneybaggies, exit playoff hopes. I was cautious to buy in to LSU in year one of Kelly's tenure despite Jayden Daniels getting progressively more comfortable as the season wore on. I eventually did, and it bit me in the ass. It was hard for me to trust their defense and their composure this season, and that ended up being their achilles heel when it mattered. I get that I'm going to have them lower than most ballots. I'm fine with that. I get if people are upset that they beat Bama yet are ranked 9 spots lower. I'm fine with that too. This is an inherently flawed team with one good win and an increasing amount of question marks.

This is still a great opening season for Brian Kelly's Tigers, but a loss to Texas A&M is inexcusable and is gonna move you down some slots.

Dawg-Bite	12	LSU has a win over #7 Bama to hold on to but just haven’t looked impressive since. Two of their losses are to teams ranked higher than them and a terrible loss to Texas A&M finishes their regular season. The only thing that separates LSU from Kansas State and Tulane for me is the Bama win.

Strong run for LSU from what many considered a throw away season. Funny to look back a week 1 vs Florida State and realize I have them at #11 & #12 in my next-to-final poll.
