Charlemagne42 9 9-19 or so are very uncertain for me. Any of these teams could go 12-1 or 8-4. Don't worry about the order. Note that not many of these teams had a lot of media coverage this off-season.

GenialGiant 15 TCU went 11-3 last season, with two of those losses coming to Oklahoma; I think they're in good shape for 2018.

woakley 15 You never know what you're going to get with TCU, but IMO they've proven that they can hang. They were a Iowa State loss away from truly being in contention for the playoff last year. I expect them to compete in the Big 12 again

Blooblod 16 The season-ending injury to Ross Blacklock can't be understated. Even if he wasn't going to be the best player on their defensive front he was the most irreplaceable. TCU's front six will still be a huge strength. DEs Ben Banogu and L.J. Collier will make life unpleasant for opposing QBs while Ty Summers and NIU transfer Jawuan Johnson will form a dominant LB duo. I think Johnson is a particularly interesting case--he might have been the best G5 LB in the country last year and now he transfers to a defensive system that is conducive to LBs putting up huge numbers under a coach known for developing defensive talent. I have Johnson as a sleeper Butkus candidate. The offense has a few more questions, particularly at QB and o-line. Hopes are high for QB Shawn Robinson, but he's far from a sure thing. WR Jalen Reagor broke out for 170 yards against Stanford in the Something Bowl at the end of last season; look for him to step into the national spotlight this season. My Horned Frogs record prediction: 9-3. I was already tentative on my original 10-2 prediction for the Horned Frogs, so the Blacklock injury knocks them down a whole game. I think Ohio State and Oklahoma both best TCU, but so will Texas thanks to a stout performance from Todd Orlando's defense.

boxman151515 16 QB is a gigantic question mark. But if they can sort that out, Gary Patterson will give Oklahoma a run for its money. OSU will provide a good test early on, and their Big 12 schedule is somewhat favorable.

Extra_Excrement 19 TCU only returns about half of their starters. Luckily for them, the other top BIG12 teams seem to be missing out on a lot too. The early OSU game will likely be a lose for the Horned Frogs but Gary Patterson is a great coach and will have TCU in a decent bowl game come bowl season. Going against Ben Bangou in practice will definitely help improve a more inexperienced offense.

JeromesNiece 19 TCU is not very experienced this year but Gary Patterson always fields a great team. I don't see them beating OSU early but they could sneak into the Big 12 title game

hokies220 20 Just got some terrible injury news which is unfortunate, but they should be a 9+ win team.
PHubbs 20 Every Gary Patterson coached team has the potential to surprise people and contend for a title. Most times in the past when they did, though, there were fewer question about the QB position. If the Horned Frogs get consistent production out of their signal caller, they should be poised to ride a defense into a 9+ win season. Whoever takes snaps better learn quick, though with Ohio State looming in just the 3rd week before a brutal stretch of conference games.

mickeyquicknumbers 21 More than any specific personnel reason, I have TCU ranked because Gary Patterson has earned my trust as head coach to whip together a team out of whatever he has available. The defense was probably the best in the Big 12 last year, and undergoes a partial rebuild with some key losses (Boesen, Howard, Orr, Texada were quite a quartet of playmakers), and the offense is functionally starting from scratch (4 new offensive linemen and no Kenny Trill) but unlike any other team in this conference I'm pretty comfortable with them regardless. Darius Anderson could have a big year ahead (he was more efficient than Kyle HIcks anyways) and Shawn Robinson has had several years to incubate as a backup.
