Its the preseason poll, and I want to be optimistic about these guys. I think they have the firepower to beat OU. If nothing else, we'll find out a lot about these guys after week 1.  |

I'm high on Houston. Keeping it close or beating a very talented Oklahoma team will tell me where they really stand. |

Herman's got his pieces in place.  If UH is going to have a signature year, this is their best chance. |

A win over Oklahoma in week 1 would have Houston sitting very high in my poll, possibly number 1.  |

Big statement win over FSU in their bowl game. Greg Ward is a year more experienced and I don't really see a problem with putting them this high as the Oklahoma game will sort this one out quickly. |

A full recruitment year under Herman now and they won't be surprising anyone this year. Everyone knows going into the year that Houston is the G5 favorite and with OU and Louisville on the schedule there's even a super slight chance they could be in the playoff conversation. But first things first is the huge week one match-up against OU. |

Tom Herman returns most of the Houston Offense that lost 1 game last year, and will have more high-profile opponents on their schedule this year. Look for Houston to shock some more casual fans early this season if they can pull off some big wins.  |

I gotta assume that Houston is going to be good again this year because that's all Houston fans seem to talk about is how "Houston is going to be good again this year."   |

I honestly don't know too much about the offseason moves the Cougs made this year. If I knew more, I might put them into the top 10, but I think in the preseason they are a respectable middle of the road team. Herman is an incredible coach who seems to get the most out of his guys. I expect them to have another good season, but likely not as good as last year. Would love to be wrong about that though. |

With the limited amount of competition in the AAC, Greg Ward and Houston have a big chance to make it to a NY6 bowl game at 11-1 or 12-0, with their only big game being at NRG against Oklahoma. |

After a debut 12-1 season, I'm sure some Cougar fans will be voting for Tom Herman to become Mayor of Houston next time the office is up for election. Houston opens up with Oklahoma Week 1, and beyond facing Louisville in Week 12 there is not much on the schedule there due to Houston being in the AAC. Frankly speaking, Houston needs to go undefeated and have a lot of help in order to make the CFP with their schedule. That doesn't mean they can't make it to an NYE6 Bowl like last year, however. If Herman can have a repeat performance of last year, don't be surprised if he doesn't stick around Houston too much longer.  |

Tom Herman may be one of the coolest coaches of CFB, just look at his Paul Wall grill. On top of that, he is an offensive genius. Herman and second year starter, Greg Ward Jr., are hoping to replicate another great season in Houston. They must impress as the looming possibility of joining the Big XII is still up in the air. |

I feel very confident in saying that Houston's 12-1 season was aided by the hands of fate, and I feel pretty confident that Houston fans will want to burn me alive for saying that. With Greg Ward returning and a big group of his targets, the passing game should still be quite good - if not missing the excellent play of Demarcus Ayers. The running game, that will have start with a completely fresh RB group, will be aided by Greg Ward's fantastic scrambling threat. Defensively a pretty good front 7 returns just about everyone and could transform into a pretty great front 7, but a secondary that often went high-risk and often got burned for it replaces 4 of its 5 starters; making the potential for being burned regularly much greater in 2016. |
