Tarmacked Ballot for 2026 Week 7

Overall Rationale: Mix of eye test, Sagarin, and other metrics (+/-, etc.).
Note: This is an early iteration and is much more fluid given lack of samples. This should shift significantly until week 5-6.

1 Georgia Bulldogs Straightforward
2 Notre Dame Fighting Irish No change, movement above
3 Miami Hurricanes No change, movement above
4 Texas Longhorns So I struggled here. This comes down to three things

1. Ohio State is probably the most experienced of the three and more consistent.
2. Texas has the best win, and a 2-1 in Sagarin resume. Shaky performances
3. Alabama has the best resume with 3-1 in Sagarin but the youngest core

I’d like to do Ohio State, Alabama, Texas in that order but I have to reflect the head to head and it is the best win. Annoying but honestly depending on Tennessee I may flip this back.

7 Indiana Hoosiers Ugly wins, ugly schedule quality, yuck
8 Missouri Tigers I’ve yoyo’ed these guys but let’s be real, they are a legit team. Austin Simmons is making Kiffin look like an idiot and flashing why he started last year.
9 Kentucky Wildcats Okay… so this Kentucky team may actually be very good and Oregon definitely misses Stein
10 UCLA Bruins Are they undefeated? Yes. Did they beat Oregon? Yes. Did it take some generationally bad play by Oregon and almost have a third stringer win if?… also yes….

They’ve been more consistent than Tech though
11 Texas Tech Red Raiders Just blegh all year. Give me a complete game for once
12 Utah Utes Computers like them. This may be too high but so it goes
13 BYU Cougars And now Bear decides to throw with skill again! Still, Iowa State post Campbell isn’t really a ringing endorsement win.
14 Mississippi State Bulldogs Why isn’t Miss State ahead of Mizzou? Resume. That’s all, just not equal right now.
15 Northwestern Wildcats FPI and Sagarin have sunk a bit on them, partly because of the matchup this week. I think everyone else keeps making bigger arguments and Indiana has looked more shaky still, so their resume takes a hit.
16 Ole Miss Rebels The LSU and Florida loss hurts you here. Resume keeps taking a hit.
17 Tennessee Volunteers This Tennessee QB situation is hell
18 USC Trojans Handled PSU as expected
19 Iowa Hawkeyes I did not have UW getting slapped on my bingo card
20 LSU Tigers Yikes. At the very least you’re playing competitive in every game.
21 Houston Cougars No real change here. Didn’t move my needle much
22 Nebraska Cornhuskers Fumbled a golden opportunity. Still much improved.
23 Oregon Ducks So… realistically this Oregon team with six turnovers and Raiola doing his best UDFA approach… almost won that game.

I think this Oregon team is much better than we’re giving it credit for but also… this feels like a 15-20 team at best with the inconsistent play.
24 Boise State Broncos More about who else moved. I’m not too high on Boise after Oregon’s collapses.
25 Wisconsin Badgers Has Fickell saved his job? Guess we’ll find out
