| _TGT7 | 15 | Liberty is only ranked because they haven’t lost, if they lost even one game, I would send them flying off my rankings. Their SOS is terrible, but undefeated is undefeated, and I believe they should get the NY6 bowl spot over a two loss SMU. If SMU only had one loss or if Tulane won I would’ve supported putting those teams in, but two losses is harder to justify. Kaidon Salter is also a very underrated quarterback. |

Problem is, that competition is the worst in the country (#133 SOS). Their two wins against New Mexico State, including the C-USA title, are the best barometer for evaluating Liberty, but even then that is a very bad barometer. Their unblemished season garners them a spot in the rankings, but the shambolic strength of schedule holds them towards the back of the top 25. Quality wins: New Mexico State [2x] |
