Here’s how I see it: 1A — Ohio State and Michigan 1B — 1C — 1D — Penn State 2 — 3 — Illinois, I guess? 4 — Iowa (somehow), Minnesota 4B — Wisconsin 5 — Maryland, Purdue … and who really cares about the rest My point is that Penn State is the best of the “good, not great” teams and bodied an unsuspecting Maryland team. Good grief. And, yet, if Penn State played Michigan tomorrow, there is, what, like a 20% chance they’d be shutout? Frustrating team.

Going with Penn State in second because their losses are at least to two of the top 3 teams on my ballot, and a 30-0 match against Maryland this week is a sign of very solid football in State College. Big Mo counts for something too.

They are clearly the #3 team in the Big 10 by eye test and record, but their best win is probably Purdue? They also lost soundly to both teams they played with a pulse. I can't justify them much higher than this.
