budget_um Ballot for 2026 Week 7

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 11, 2026, 8:04 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Trying to judge on-field performance at this point, with results first and foremost.

Rank Team Reason
Georgia Bulldogs Best team in the country after knocking off #10
Miami Hurricanes Move up with Texas loss
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Rolled Stanford but mostly helped by Texas
Indiana Hoosiers Tight one against a good Nebraska team. Leapfrog Bama
BYU Cougars 2 possessions over Iowa State. Jump over Bama and OSU
Utah Utes Rolled (bad) Kansas. Jump Bama and OSU
Texas Tech Red Raiders Idle but still hurdle Bama/OSU
UCLA Bruins Gutsy win against a (still [barely] ranked) Oregon team
Alabama Crimson Tide Fall down with a loss, but it's to #1
Wake Forest Demon Deacons Most slept-on team in the country. They'll fall from grace at some point, but still riding high with their only loss to Miami
Nebraska Cornhuskers Only loss is close to Indiana
Arizona Wildcats Only loss is to BYU. Cleaned up against a less-good-than-previously-thought WVU
Oklahoma State Cowboys Best win looks worse, but the Pokes don't, rolling over UCF. This feels high with the Tulsa loss, but I can't justify dropping them just yet
Houston Cougars Only loss is to Texas Tech. Good win over K-State
Texas Longhorns Rivalry, so not indexing too much, especially given the Ohio State win. But that's a bad Oklahoma team that just put up 27 on them. Watch this space
Ohio State Buckeyes Fall out of the top 10 along with their best win of the year so far
Northwestern Wildcats Only loss is to Indiana. Ball State isn't much, but there was space in the poll this week.
Mississippi State Bulldogs Idle, but Bama loss looks pretty good given the fight they put up
Iowa Hawkeyes Jump back into poll after walloping Washington
Kentucky Wildcats Old wins look worse than before, but they're still ranked
Tennessee Volunteers Most fraudulent one-loss team in the country. But Texas is still a good 1 loss
Missouri Tigers Mississippi State is clearly alright, and there's some real parity at the bottom of the SEC. Not sure how to feel about them, but this feels good for now.
Oregon Ducks This is an odd team that's taking its lumps. USC win and Oklahoma State's high ranking cover a multitude of sins
USC Trojans Lose points with Oregon's loss even after beating Penn State
Boise State Broncos Ditto with a Fresno win
