Overall Rationale: I started with the current AP top 25 as my baseline and adjusted how I saw fit. Some particularly notable changes on my ballot include dropping schools that have new head coaching hires from outside the program: specifically Oklahoma, USC, Oregon, and Miami as well as dropping the ranking some of the notable preseason favorites. I'm a huge believer in on the field performance outweighing any sort of preseason hype and until I see good performance from those outliers I don't see them breaking the top 10. Dropping schools with unproven coaches follows that same rationale. Lanning and Venables are first time HCs heading up programs with a lot of recent success and could see the inside of my ballot once proven against a couple P5 opponents. Riley and Cristobel are rebuilding historic powerhouse programs and I think they have more work ahead of them.
