Overall Rationale: It’s the preseason poll- a crapshoot. Look at some expectations, see returning production, try to ignore too much unwarranted hype. Not too much to say until week 1.

1 Alabama Crimson Tide The best QB in the nation, the best coach in the nation, and the best recruits in the nation.
2 Ohio State Buckeyes Should run the table in the B1G with a lot of returning production and a (hopefully) boosted defense
3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Always a threat, a great all-around team. They’ve upgraded at coach and QB.
4 Georgia Bulldogs Losing a lot of talent on defense, I’ll still on the fence about their QB, but defending champs, so can’t rate too low.
5 Utah Utes Should be the betting favorite in the PAC, strong showing last year + bowl game.
6 Michigan Wolverines QB questions and a diluted defense, but as elite as ever.
7 Baylor Bears BIG12 has about 7 contenders, and Baylor is the best of the bunch imo.
8 Oregon Ducks This is the year. Bo Nix has improved so much under this new offense. He’s focused. He’s having fun. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a dark horse for the Heisman.
9 Clemson Tigers Big QB question, have to think they might bring in the freshman at some point. Once I see how they respond to their down year, they’ll be my quickest mover.
10 Texas A&M Aggies It won’t be this year, but next year is when that big recruiting class plays some football.
11 Michigan State Spartans Great year last year, Tuck is building a great culture.
12 Texas Longhorns Vince Young level recruit at QB, this is my trickiest ranking, they could be 12-0 or 7-5, I think about halfway in is a good spot.
13 Oklahoma Sooners See prediction: Texas. Perennial powerhouse losing some good talent, I think they’ll be fine though
14 USC Trojans New coach and some B1G grabs in the portal.
15 NC State Wolfpack I struggle to place this team. They get hype, but I want to know why they and not NC, Miami, even Virginia. Still, I see talent. It just doesn’t wow me as a “best team”.
16 Miami Hurricanes Mario looks to be the one to turn this program around. Van Dyke is VERY good. I wonder who he’ll throw to?
17 Oklahoma State Cowboys Average skill position players propped up by a good coach, I don’t see them doing much. Overrated.
18 Wisconsin Badgers The QB situation sucks, but Allen is a beast in waiting. I’m expecting B1G things.
19 Cincinnati Bearcats I hate discounting G5 based on that moniker, but they lose a TON. Can they really match up like before?
20 Arkansas Razorbacks I think you could stick this team in any P5 and they’d go 9-3. I need to see them win as a dog.
21 Penn State Nittany Lions This team will always be great, not elite. Having a 12th year senior at QB might do wonders though.
22 Iowa Hawkeyes If this was a punting competition, they’d be #1. Any offense this year would make them a contender.
23 Wake Forest Demon Deacons I’m treating this as if Hartman is here/back by the Clemson game. With him they’re top 25, without, they’re top 75.
24 BYU Cougars Definition of “does more with less”. I’m excited to see if their defense will fare better.
25 Houston Cougars In the last year of the American, I’m looking to see a Tune-led bloodbath. They have some real playmakers.
