I was in a pickle here with Tennessee destorying LSU earlier this season, but losing their starting QB + lost to an unranked team by 3+ TDs is terrible. For now I have the Volunteers at #7, but they could stumble in the next rankings or the Conference Championship Rankings. Rivalry Week at Vanderbilt. |

I get that head to head should matter, and Tennessee is behind 2 teams they beat, but those other 2 teams don't have 4 score losses (that could have been far worse) to an unranked/borderline ranked team. Also, I really don't feel confident that they'd win a neutral field rematch against either team, the defense is no better than a wet paper bag. |

| Dawg-Bite | 12 | I almost kept Tennessee in the top 10 because of their impressive resume (I even considered keeping them ahead of LSU and Bama due to head 2 head) before learning about the ACL injury for Hooker. Without Hooker I don’t think they would beat Bama or LSU again, and I feel like Washington and Oregon would light up that Tennessee secondary; Penn State is just straight up better IMO without Hooker. Plus allowing South Carolina to score 63 and beat you by 25 does not scream top 10. Tennessee is lucky they didn’t fall further than this. |
