ColombianInIowa24 Ballot for 2022 Week 13

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Nov. 20, 2022, 2:39 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Ranked by W/L first, eye test between win/loss tiers. Subjective ranking of impressiveness of wins and losses within.

Rank Team Reason
Georgia Bulldogs Took care of business, at the very limits of doing so. Hang on to #1 by a decent margin with their good wins.
Michigan Wolverines Should not have won against Illinois and even I am confused how they climbed, even with the poor performances of the entire top tier. I see ominous signs for the Wolverines next week.
TCU Horned Frogs Moves down after playing too close against Baylor, leaving to a walk off. However, TCU has showcased they can be good at every phase of the game with their special teams shining like I have never seen. Interesting game aginst my Cyclones next week, but I don't think we have fight left in us. Next challenge for them will likely wait until the Big XII championship game in a rematch against Kansas State or Texas.
Ohio State Buckeyes Not sure why the Buckeyes get demoted down here, although their game was also close. Still consider both others above them but all will be settled next week between 2 and 4.
USC Trojans The best 10-1, but like Clemson, vulnerable. Honestly seems to me quite like UNC, except their offense can hide their defensive flaws better. Very interested in what happens against ND and can see Notre Dame shutting USC down with some luck.
Clemson Tigers ... 10-1 speaks for itself and been playing up to form as of late.
Washington Huskies Now I respect head-to-head. Keeps doing late season good. Pac-12 has more depth this year than the SEC west, sorry. For now Pac-12 schools get benefit.
Oregon Ducks Good win against Utah puts them here but head-to-head keeps them below Washington.
Tennessee Volunteers Disgusting loss to South Carolina eliminates them from playoff conversation. Looked like fish in a barrel,
Penn State Nittany Lions In my opinion, would beat LSU, at their best form. Kind of underrated with amazing wins against everyone but the top tier, which they played as expected again.
LSU Tigers Took care of business against UAB... alright.
Alabama Crimson Tide Head-to-head above, random FCS beat down.
Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Worst one loss squad and didn't play a match this time allowing for a rise compared to others. Good test is against JMU next week, but I will not put anything against them for being unable to play against a tragedy stricken UVA.
Cincinnati Bearcats Keep doing the bare minimum but that may be enough, G5 zone is interesting.
UTSA Roadrunners Were good last season, repeating it again. Their conference is kind of not good but they take care of business and did it particularly well this time around.
UCLA Bruins Loses and rises, confusing indeed. Issue is, as a three loss squad, with the opponents they faced performing well, they look much better. 16-18 manually put above 20-22.
Oregon State Beavers Still taking care of business with a decent, well-balanced, squad.
Kansas State Wildcats Climbing still after the loss to Texas, finally showed enough to get them back in the rankings.
Troy Trojans Taking care of business, hasn't lost to anyone except in a fluke to App State and beat #20 while losing to #25 Ole Miss.
South Alabama Jaguars Another meh win, but such is life.
Tulane Green Wave Made up for last week with a destruction of a decent (but no defense) SMU squad. I think they should be a few spots higher, but this is what the formula spits out for now.
North Carolina Tar Heels It bothers me to drop them here as a Duke fan, for fear of bias, but they haven't looked good all season long. Their defense has been atrocious all season and they play close with any squad, good or bad. As an Iowa State fan, the lack of balance in this team bothers me.
Utah Utes Lost to Oregon keeps them low, but clearly one of the best 3-loss.
Florida State Seminoles Finally I have enough evidence to rank them again, FSU clearly on a late season resurgence.
Ole Miss Rebels Bad losses to good teams, can't win where it counts. Next out (no order): Notre Dame, Boise State, Air Force, Ohio.
