-4 | 81.8 | With Ja'Marr Chase opting out of the season, the Tigers are scrambling to find any elements of last year's title-winning team, but they're still the defending champs and they still have Coach O to lead the way. I wouldn't put a return to the CFP past them by any stretch of the imagination. |

A pretty big drop for the Tigers, but it is what it is. |

Will still be really good but even for the COVID era of college football they lost a LOT from last season.  |

they lost like everyone, but talent and coach O and the actual offensive coordinator are there |

LSU had an absolutely incredible season last year and it feels almost wrong placing them here, but they've lost basically everyone involved in making that happen as well as Ja'Marr chase opting out of the season. I think Coach O might find a great staff again but it will probably take more time than this year to get a staff working in sync like that again. |

I think Coach O is really building a strong program here, but they lost too much talent amongst coaches, offense, and defense to rank any higher. |

It's tough to place the reigning champs at #11, but the lost SO much. Burrow's performance last year was probably the best I've seen from a college QB. I just don't see them competing with the Top three in the SEC this year. |

This is absolutely the lowest I will ever put a defending champion, but this is nothing like the team that just won the championship. LSU is 127th in returning production; only Utah loses more in the Power 5. Joe Burrow is gone. Joe Brady is gone. Kristian Fulton and Grant Delpit are gone. CEH. Justin Jefferson. Household names. To be No. 12 with that much attrition borders on a compliment. |

They already had tons of turnover and I was going to drop them to the bottom half of the top 10.  This just isn't a squad built to replace the best statistical QB in CFB history and the coordinator that made it happen not to mention all of the other top-flight talent that left.  That was before Covid opt-outs of which they might be one of the hardest-hit squads.  Might be a rough year but I'll give some benefit of the doubt. |

I have LSU a lot lower than most people would, due to their lack of returning production from last season. They have lost more players and coaches than most teams in the country, with opt outs still coming. |

I feel nauseous typing right now.  Every ounce of the homer in me wants to rank LSU #1 and say "By damn, we earned the right to open the season on top!"  But at this point we barely have enough players left to field a team.  I liked our chances of being decent before we lost Jamarr, but I don't have as much faith in our depth at WR as other tiger fans.  Terrace Marshall Jr. is one of the best receivers in the league, but behind him are guys who've been shown tendencies to be streaky.  Or haven't played.  And with our entire O-Line possible infested with the covid, how much do we have left?  Sheer talent gets us to 7 wins.  But we're not repeating this year. |
