GenialGiant Ballot for 2020 Preseason

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 2, 2020, 11:46 p.m.

Overall Rationale: What's a COVID? But actually, it's a bit frustrating ranking all these teams with basically no way of seeing how things would have shaken out under normal circumstances. Oh well, I guess I can always claim the team that breaks out from one of the conferences too self-important, short-sighted, and greedy to cancel (or "postpone") football in 2020 was on my top 25 shortlist. First N Out: Texas A&M, Tennessee, Miami, Virginia Tech, UNC, Iowa State, Central Arkansas

Rank Team Reason
Ohio State Buckeyes Buckeyes and being a top-ranked team, what a combination.
Clemson Tigers With LSU losing a lot of starters, Clemson jumps them.
Georgia Bulldogs The Bulldogs should have a leg up (haha, Mississippi State) on LSU this season.
Penn State Nittany Lions Not the best quarterback in the world, but Penn State still finds themselves in a good position going into 2020.
Alabama Crimson Tide Bama ain't played nobody.
Oklahoma Sooners Maybe try not losing next time?
LSU Tigers A pretty big drop for the Tigers, but it is what it is.
Florida Gators The Gators would be sitting pretty if they were in basically any other conference in the country.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Notre Dame has themselves a good football team.
Wisconsin Badgers Wisconsin consistently shows that they're a good team, but they almost never manage to get credit for it.
Oregon Ducks I don't really buy into the Oregon hype, good thing we'll get to see how they fare this season!
Minnesota Golden Gophers Minnesota had a great 2019 and, frankly, I think it's nonsense people are writing them off this season after not so much as a game!
Baylor Bears Baylor's a team about which I'm actually kind of curious and I think they're more than a little under-rated this go 'round.
Auburn Tigers I largely feel indifference toward Auburn, but them beating Nick Saban is always a fun time.
Michigan Wolverines I'm going to break with what seems to have become a tradition with me and actually rank the Wolverines a bit higher than I imagine others will.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Saddle up, partners.
North Dakota State Bison North Dakota State is a good football team and the fact that they're hardly ever ranked is frustrating as hell.
Iowa Hawkeyes Sp0-0ky.
Cincinnati Bearcats I hate this thing where we're all supposed to collectively agree to drop a G5 team that did well last season because reasons.
Appalachian State Mountaineers The Mountaineers are a good team with an albatross of a conference around their necks.
Memphis Tigers A new head coach means changes for Memphis, but I'm not convinced one of the thing changing is winning football games.
Texas Longhorns "Texas is back," they all scream into the void.
UCF Knights The Knights are looking to "bounce back" this season after a meager 10 wins in 2019.
Boise State Broncos Giddy up, horsey!
Utah Utes Utah had a decent go of it in 2019 and I'm excited to see what they can do in 2020.
