Charlemagne42 Ballot for 2020 Preseason

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Aug. 31, 2020, 6:44 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Human ballot while my computer converges. Especially "human" because this is a preseason poll, which are utterly useless in every single way. Despite my feelings on preseason polls, I have tried my best to create what I personally feel is an accurate representation of the top 25 teams' ordering, based on last year's results, recruiting news, and updates from some teams' training camps. Enjoy, I guess.

Rank Team Reason
Clemson Tigers
Ohio State Buckeyes
Alabama Crimson Tide
Oklahoma Sooners
Georgia Bulldogs
Penn State Nittany Lions With depth at key positions, this is a bad year for PSU to sit on the bench.
Florida Gators
Wisconsin Badgers Also a very bad year to take off. The OL is experienced, Mertz was having a great camp, Wisconsin finally looked like an offense that didn't rely on one standout RB. Kevin Warren ended all of that.
Oregon Ducks Oregon lost Herbert, but still has plenty of depth at key offensive positions and a system that can slot anyone with a pulse in at QB and produce success, especially given their weak conference.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish The Irish are playing in a conference for the first time in any CFB fan's lifetime. This significantly increases their odds of making the Playoff and winning the Championship, even if they lose their only challenging game to Clemson.
LSU Tigers
Utah Utes
North Carolina Tar Heels Mack has this team in fighting shape, and with the recruits he keeps pulling in, the only way they can go is up.
Michigan Wolverines
Cincinnati Bearcats
Auburn Tigers
Memphis Tigers
Oklahoma State Cowboys Chuba returns. And that's pretty much all they have going for them. Luckily, Chuba is an awful lot to have going for you.
Minnesota Golden Gophers
Boise State Broncos Consistency.
Tennessee Volunteers
Texas Longhorns
Washington Huskies
Appalachian State Mountaineers
Kansas State Wildcats Consistency is key.
