Ballot Type: Human

Overall Rationale: Looked at some preseason metrics such as S&P and FPI while also looking at where teams finished last season along with some guesses because it is the preseason and there isn't a whole lot to base these off of.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Clemson Tigers | Always going to put defending Champs at #1 |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Can never bet against Alabama as Saban has shown before. |
| Georgia Bulldogs | I think these Top 3 teams are clear so far and Georgia looks for this to be the year they knock off Alabama. |
| Oklahoma Sooners | Oklahoma with a new QB again but they have the offensive firepower to make the playoffs again but need the defense to step up if they want to make that jump to a Championship. |
| LSU Tigers | LSU looking to be one of the most talented teams in the nation this year but they have to be able to beat Alabama it has been a good while since LSU has been able to do that. |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | Ohio State is under new leadership but they still have the talent that Urban brought in which will keep them right in the thick of the Playoff Race |
| Florida Gators | Florida put themselves back on the National Map this past season and capped it off with a Peach Bowl win over Michigan. We will see if they can build off that. |
| Michigan Wolverines | Michigan looks to be talented again this year but can they beat Ohio State. If there is a year to do it this would be the year but it is difficult to trust Michigan with that task. |
| Oregon Ducks | Oregon is once again one of the front runners in the PAC-12 and they bring in some good talent recruiting-wise. |
| Texas Longhorns | Is Texas Back? People seem to think so after their Sugar Bowl win over UGA but I still have some questions especially on the defensive side of the ball. |
| Texas A&M Aggies | TAMU is now in Year 2 of the Jimbo Fisher Era as they keep trying to build momentum. |
| Wisconsin Badgers | Wisconsin returns a lot of talent this season and is bound for a bounce back season after a letdown season a year ago. |
| Notre Dame Fighting Irish | Notre Dame looks to try to make the playoffs again and try and be more successful but they may lack the depth to do it. |
| Michigan State Spartans | Michigan State looking for a bounce back season after only going 7-6 last season but they also play in one of the toughest divisions in football. |
| Auburn Tigers | Auburn another team just like Michigan State looking to bounce back from a disappointing season and is one of the most unpredictable teams from season to season. |
| Washington Huskies | Washington looking to win the PAC-12 yet again after a Rose Bowl loss to Ohio State but the PAC-12 is looking stronger than it has in years. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | Penn State just couldn't beat good teams last year but they take care of business against the weaker teams but if they want to move up they need to be able to beat Top 25 foes. |
| Utah Utes | Utah trying to win the PAC-12 after falling short in the Title game last year and have a great shot at it with the returning talent they have. |
| Mississippi State Bulldogs | Similar to Utah as Mississippi State returns tons of talent and looks to compete in a very difficult SEC West this year. |
| Washington State Cougars | Washington State looks to build on their season last year with plenty of talent staying even if they didn't build a whole lot recruiting as look to take the Apple Cup this year.  |
| UCF Knights | UCF looks to be the premier team of G5 again this year and this time they actually get a good P5 opponent in Stanford to play. QB play will be a big question mark with Milton out. |
| Boise State Broncos | Boise State looks to return to a NY6 Bowl as they look to take the MWC with a good amount of returning talent but that won't exactly be easy. |
| Memphis Tigers | Memphis looks to try and be the team to knock off UCF in the American as they came oh so close multiple times. |
| Kentucky Wildcats | Kentucky looks to try to repeat their performance from last season although that will be difficult with the likes of UGA and Florida in the same division.  |
| Fresno State Bulldogs | Fresno looks to compete with Boise at the top of the MWC this season as they return a lot of talent from last year's squad. |
