Overall Rationale: This is based on vibes and it is awful, apologies in advance. I'm hoping this ends up being a bit more realistic towards the end of the season, but idk.
I rank every FBS conference individually from top to bottom each week.
The rankings are rebuilt from scratch every week. Last week’s poll does not carry over and has no effect on the new rankings. I will still include +/- and which teams went UNR under reasonings because I think it's still interesting to see the change from week to week.
The top five teams from each Power Four conference automatically make the Top 25 pool.
I also rank the Group of Six teams and independents together in one separate list. The top 15 are ranked in that pool, and the top five from it also make the Top 25.
This makes up our top 25:
5 SEC + 5 B1G + 5 ACC + 5 Big 12 + 5 G6/Independent.
Then, I rank those 25 teams nationally. I preserve the order already established within each group. If one SEC team was ranked ahead of another in the SEC rankings, that order cannot flip in the final Top 25. The same applies to every other group. All 5 SEC teams can be right next to each so long as that conference ranking order is preserved.
