Ballot Type: Human

Overall Rationale: This week I decided to use the famous and always reliable “eye test.” It is incredibly hard to rank teams after only 1 week, and I decided to eliminate my computer inputs to compare my pre season top 25 to my Week 1.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Georgia Bulldogs | Until knocked off, until proven otherwise, the 2x defending champs will remain atop CFB |
| Florida State Seminoles | Nobody has a better resume than FSU. It was only one game, but the Noles shutdown of a very good LSU team in the second half was extremely impressive. |
| Michigan Wolverines | Hard to know much going forward and such will be the case for many teams ranked behind Michigan. The Wolverines took care of business and look poised to make it back to the CFB playoff. |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | Bama gonna Bama. MTSU isn’t the best measuring stick but the tide will find out next week if they are deserving when they face off against Texas. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | I have PSU jumping OSU after the matters lackluster performance against Indians. The Penn State emerges as a legitimate threat to Michigan and Ohio State in the B1G. |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | See above reasoning. The Buckeyes will always be talented, but performances like that against Indiana will see OSU’s stock continue to drop if the offense can’t figure it out. |
| Washington Huskies | I have Washington and Oregon at 1a and 1b in the PAC 12. Giving the very slight advantage to Washington because I believe Penix slightly edged out Bo Nix. |
| Oregon Ducks | See above |
| USC Trojans | The Trojans should still be a force in the PAC, but the conference is incredibly tough this year. If USC cannot hold on defense, I can see them dropping 3 conference games. |
| Notre Dame Fighting Irish | Incredible performances by Hartman have the Irish clicking. I expect the Irish to be in a great position to challenge for a CFB spot and I will always have faith in a Freeman defense. |
| Tennessee Volunteers | Milton looks like a fine answer for losing Hooker. The Vols can challenge UGA in the SEC East as SCAR takes a slide. |
| Utah Utes | Even down 8 starters, the Utes dominated a UF squad that looks completely lost and had every reason to be able to make this a game. Great job securing victory with half the 2nd team in. |
| Texas Longhorns | Not much to say as I did not get to watch this game. All answers should be brought to light when the Longhorns square off against the tide. |
| North Carolina Tar Heels | I picked South Carolina to upset North Carolina. Shakes how much of an idiot I am. Drake Maye is looking the part and the defense seems much improved. |
| Oregon State Beavers | The PAC 12 should keep the Bears on notice. D. J. had a great debut and OSU looks like the breath of fresh air needed to unlock his true potential. |
| LSU Tigers | Do I believe LSU is better than some of the teams ranked above them? Sure. But I refuse to put a winless team in the top 15. An uncalled for second half collapse and a secondary that needs serious work knocks the Tigers down 10 spots. |
| Oklahoma Sooners | Lincoln Riley is back? Nope. But the Sooners offense might be. |
| Kansas State Wildcats | I did not get to watch K-State so it is hard for me to rank them as accurately as I would like. I sandwiched them in the middle of Oklahoma and Duke as I would expect them to be around +3.5 for OU and around -3.5 against a hot Duke squad. |
| Duke Blue Devils | C ya Dabo. The Blue devils technically upset Clemson, but there was no doubt they were the better team. Clemson offensive woes or a stout Duke D? Probably a bit of both but what an opener for the Blue Devils. |
| Ole Miss Rebels | Another team I was not able to watch but beating up on a cupcake won’t move the needle much. I expect the offense to continue to explode until we can see them in action in conference play. |
| Colorado Buffaloes | They have the receipts. Sanders is a legit Heisman contender and nobody lucks their way into a 500 yard passing game, a school record. The Buffs have serious talent and coach primes squad might just live up to the hype. |
| Clemson Tigers | The talent is there. That’s why they are still ranked. But what an absolute terrible performance by Clemson. |
| Tulane Green Wave | They may be 23rd but the unis are 1st in the country. Tulane should continue to be the premiere “G5” team to beat and South Alabama would have been a perfect team to upset the wave. Instead they handled business and look to be right back at the forefront of the G5. |
| Wisconsin Badgers | Did not get to watch. |
| Iowa Hawkeyes | Almost dropped the Hawkeyes only due to CU’s siege. However, I’ve debated on Tamu vs Iowa for the final slot in my rankings and because nothing else but petty hate, Iowa gets the nod over the Aggies. |
