Ballot Type: Human
Submitted: Sept. 5, 2023, 12:52 a.m.
Overall Rationale: Week 1 is done, and because any week prior to weeks 6-7 are very volatile my reasons won't be what I really think about them, instead I will go full offseason mode and compare my top 25 teams with my 25 most streamed artists on Spotify, next 5 out are Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, UCF and NIU, also my most streamed song of all time is Jump Around, but House Of Pain only came in at 34, the number in front of artist is where they ranked on the list.
Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Georgia Bulldogs | 20. Outkast, this is slightly more creative than the Washington/Nirvana comparison, I think |
| Michigan Wolverines | 15. Green Day, good in the 90s, great in the 2000s, bad in the 2010s |
| Alabama Crimson Tide | 10. Elton John, Hasn't been bad in 50+ years |
| Florida State Seminoles | 5. Daft Punk, from the 90s to the mid 2010s they were everywhere, but suddenly vanished after that, Florida State is back, though. |
| Ohio State Buckeyes | 1. CAKE, much like Marvin Harrison Jr., “He's going the distance, He's going for speed." |
| USC Trojans | 8. The White Stripes, the band of the 2000s, possibly even more than MCR. |
| Penn State Nittany Lions | 17. Pearl Jam, haven't been bad in decades, also still making music |
| Washington Huskies | 6. Nirvana, a bit too obvious. |
| Notre Dame Fighting Irish | 4. Talking Heads, really good in the 70s, but hasn't done much since |
| North Carolina Tar Heels | 7. Tame Impala, one man show, Kevin Parker and Drake Maye. |
| Tennessee Volunteers | 3. Paramore, Hayley Williams is from Tennessee, that's it. |
| Texas Longhorns | 9. My Chemical Romance, dominated the early 2000s, irrelevant since |
| Oregon Ducks | 25. MGMT, early 2010s is where you both peaked |
| Tulane Green Wave | 21. Phoenix, have been listening to/watching a lot recently. |
| Oregon State Beavers | 18. Frank Ocean, a sad story that might not have a happy ending. |
| Utah Utes | 12. Metallica, Lars Ulrich's untuned drums are better than the Florida Gators, in conclusion, St. Anger > Florida Football |
| Wisconsin Badgers | 16. Rage Against The Machine, Tom Morello REALLY likes Madison |
| Kansas State Wildcats | 2. Ween, like Kansas State, Ween was at its best from 1997-2003 |
| Iowa Hawkeyes | 23. AC/DC, like Kirk Ferentz, AC/DC has been around forever |
| Duke Blue Devils | 19. Cage The Elephant, both of these were the ones I least expected to be here. |
| Ole Miss Rebels | 11. Jack Johnson, country, I guess? I'm running out of ideas. |
| Oklahoma Sooners | 22. Radiohead, never bad, at worst they are above average |
| LSU Tigers | 14. Jimmy Buffett, it's 5 o'clock somewhere, RIP King, I listened to "He Went To Paris" while making this. |
| Texas A&M Aggies | 24. Supertramp, American icons, ignore that Supertramp is British, these were the final 2. |
| Clemson Tigers | 13. Modest Mouse, their fans are listening to Float On on repeat to try and convince themselves the season is salvageable. |
